Make note Dr Arnkoff's website doesn't have his latest price. It is now $2300.

Just an update on my recovery. 7 weeks post op and I am still dealing with a swollen scrotum. It has finally gone down to about the size of a lemon and is still seeping blood from the incision. Doc says he is happy with how things are healing and is not surprised that things are going slow. I was hoping I would be down for a couple of days after surgery and fully recovered in a few weeks, but that has not happened. I feel I can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel but it is so frustrating.
Mentally and emotionally things are quite well. My libido has dropped significantly and this has made my relationship with my wife much less frustrating. It is actually quite a relief to not have sexual thoughts interrupt my day and I feel less guilt and sexual frustration. I seldom think about sex and my urge to masturbate has dropped to almost none. I have not been able to exercise much since my surgery and that has allowed me to gain some weight and become a little lethargic compared to my normal active self. I am now also recovering from shoulder surgery that I had done on Tuesday so I am hoping everything comes together and I can get back to exercising after the first of the year. I am very happy that I have not yet had signs of any negative side effects, if anything my life is looking quite good and getting better as things heal.
Enough for now. Maybe another update after the new year.

i am glad to hear from you as it had been a while.
I do worry that Dr arnkoff is turning out like Spector and Kimmel,-they botched a lot of operations. Even with complications due to previous injury, I really don't see how it is right to be swollen and seeping seven weeks later. I've had all sorts of surgery, including testicular and abdominal, and nothing should be like that. Castration isn't that difficult in terms of stopping bleeding...
I would seriously get a second opinion at this point.

It seems for me anyway that my desire for sex came back for awhile but now I have almost none. I cannot even get a hard enough erection for sex anymore, not that it bothers me. (I am not using HRT.)

Hello. I'm new to the website. On my journey. I'm grateful that I can find a doctor referral here. Did you use this doctor. The other result did not seem to turn out too well.

There is so much to read here, I am not sure where to start! This discussion is along the lines that I am having with myself. I have a call into Dr. A and expect to hear back shortly, I am getting close to making the final decision on castration and I am not transsexual although I thought I was in the past and was on hormones for a year or so (medically prescribed) and have low testosterone as a result.
I have a couple of questions -- if you are castrated, and then take estrogen, does it lessen the effects like depression? Or is that only lessened via testosterone?
Second, if you can tolerate some feminization, but that is not a goal AND if you certainly do not want to be fully male functional AND you want to avoid the more severe aspects of like depression -- then what should you do? Low levels of T or E or ??
Thanks for helps, still sorting this out!

I only had slight puffiness and bruising the first couple of weeks, and absolutely no seepage ever, but the cord ends did not disappear until three months post op. But of course I went to the best, Dr. Fara.
