NBC News reports Washington DC just got rain per the European model and not the blizzard the

<doom> Federal's <Darth Vadar breath sounds> model forecast; leading to cancelling airline flights and causing great inconvenience to recessing Congress people. Yea!

The Northern Atlantic Coast seems due for a heavy snow event while the mid and south is treated to another deluge. Loss of electric power, again. Coastal property erosion, again.

With so much opportunity, why would anyone chose to live in these disaster prone areas?

They call this kind of snow, heart attack snow. Heavy stuff to shovel. <gasp>

Blizzards, and flood, and loss of power, and sink holes - oh my!

I chose earthquake country any day. :D

Heart attack snow? Oh well, I long time ago bot a couple of very large snow blowers to clear my 150 ft driveway and sidewalks. No heart attacks before their time!

I looked outside this morning and there was three inches of snow.

I looked outside at four PM and its melted to two inches or less.

Whatever you hear of this storm, it passed my house by and snowed elsewhere.

Even if that was 10 to 15 miles away. It ain't my driveway.

The melting snow was not for me...

The weathermen in both Western PA and in Washington DC showed vast difference (up to a foot more) in areas ten miles apart.

Think of very narrow bands of snow hitting hills. The higher the hill, the more snow it gets.

That's what happens to around Pittsburgh. East is the Appalachians and they get lots of snow, Near the three rivers and south of Pittsburgh near Canonsburg and Washington PA is several hundred feet lower in elevation and get less snow because the ground stays warmer.

It never fell below freezing last night, either and just the air is not enough to create lots of snow.

The guy that owns the park and the place I live in came by three times to make sure the roads were clear, he even does our little circle drive, I moved my truck so he could clean that area, then one of his workers came by with a cat and cleared everything up to my steps, so I cleaned that up then cleaned off the 2 feet of snow off my truck, let the heater take care of the ice on the windshield and we were off. Roads were already clean and dry.

Poor kitty. Why couldn't they leave it home, warm and snug?

I know, that this is a bit offtopic, but...

Re: featherweight vehicle.

http://youtu.be/3BsmQKzlEF0?t=3m37s - big warning: NSFW and shocking. Russian road, SUV, and a bit of ice under the snow, between the lanes.

The final words after video: I wanted to show this video to everyone, who thinks, that a big SUV is a fortress, and who lays off responsibility to electronic stability systems.

An SUV will get you through the blizzard better then that little Korean car most cosmopolitan but can't afford a Mercedes - Russians seem to prefer.

The driver of the video SUV must have been drunk, or too near sober for a Russky ;) ;)

The bigger more prevalent problem is distracted driving. Even hands free cell phone talking will places the driver as equal risk as a drunk driver. And I have to share the road with both :( 😠

I can't reasonable drive an 18 wheeler, but I did drive my big bad 4WD Ford Expedition today and it is wonderful.

When will those dashboard cams will catch on in America. Another distraction 😄

Moi

BIG SUV ❤️
