Dry humps are all you get for stealing our Colorado River water. As the bathroom sign says, "Please flush twice. California wants the water."

I made the mistake of "texting" the landscaper yesterday to tell him that the lawn needed to be mowed.

I think I'm cursed.

We are simmering in the humid heat, with heat indexes over 100F. Add in the popup storm, with all the drama that goes with those, and it's just miserable.

If you stand still outside long enough, mushrooms will start to grow on your clothes.

The Godmonster had a baseball game this morning. It was cloudy, 78F, humid, but with a nice cool breeze off of a passing popup storm to the north. Once that began to clear, it hit 86F in a matter of minutes. It's about 95F now, and moist. The plants don't like it either; growth has stopped, and they're all just idling.

I've spent much of the day on various airplanes, going from the cool San Francisco Bay Area (days in the 70s and nights in the 50s) to Charleston, South Carolina. I stepped out of the airport into 90s, with a heat index above 100°F. It's quite a shock to the system. I'm here for a conference, so I'll seldom step outside an air-conditioned hotel.

That's the reason I won't live in South Carolina because of the yearly tropical storms and hurricanes along the coastline.

Excessive heat also ruled out Las Vegas . I was there once in 100-plus degree solid sunshine and people ran from air-conditioned cars to air-conditioned buildings and air-conditioned houses. There weren't any lawns, just stone and sand landscaping.

I also have ruled out Florida because of the bug infestation. I refuse to live anywhere that requires an exterminator once a month. Also, the outdoor pools in Florida require a large mosquito net covering so people can swim without having the blood sucked from their bodies. Think biblical locusts.

My sympathies, Jesus. The one thing I really hated working in Africa was the trip back. The trip from the bush began as a multi-hour drive which mostly was like being in an unbalanced spin cycle. Then there was the departure lounge when it was un-air conditioned and like Miami in the summer pre-ac. Nothing like sweating until you are soaked to the skin before getting on a plane for your +10 hour flight to the US to catch a connecting flight home. Miserable. Good to bring a dry change of clothes in carry aboard.

Sweatbath today. Fixed the truck replaced power steering pump & high pressure line, played in a concert. Cannot stop living. All is well.

Humidity above 80%. Temp in the mid 70's.

Asthma acting up all day until I finally closed the windows and turned on

the A/C to pull the moisture out of the air. Worked better than a rescue inhaler.

The peaches ripen so slowly. Some are really juicy but lacking any acidity or strong peachyness

as these trees produced before they got sick. I tried to order some gourmet peaches online

and find they are not shipping. It was a bad peach year in Idaho and Georgia too.

Emaciated, old black kitty seems to be improving slowly.

Still blind to things close up she has become more social wanting love time regularly.

Maybe she had a stroke because a metabolic disease or organ failure would not improve.

I miss the Siamese brothers and think of them often.
