Got a flat tire out on an old road crossing the sandy flats in southern Nevada valley. Sand wouldn't support the jack and then one of Moi's thunderstorms came thru. Big, cold rain drops, hail and lightning did not help. Glad I carry a shovel. Got the car up a bit and stabilized on the jack and then dug down enough to change the tire. Left cold and wet. Today comes the humidity.

No Thunderstorms here but, I do see thunder head clouds landwards

arising from beyond the mountains.

The humid, steamy conditions are improved with drier, cooler air.

Squirrel #21 has been relocated after a dry spell of no squirrels caught.

Either rats or squirrels are chewing on my few peaches that are rock hard.

5 years ago I actually got to enjoy my fruit.

The last couple of years, I can not get a piece of tree ripened fruit.

After days of not capturing any critters I put a little trap on a table with

legs that bow in making it harder to acess the table top from the ground.

I guess this guy was so lured by stale ole peanut butter that he . . .

He was determined.

Fava beans about 18 - 24" inches tall while the corn is about 12" tall.

My Mexican gardener planted the corn "two" in a spot.

My Mexican house cleaner recognized it was planted by a Mexican.

Is 2 to a spot Farmer style or Mexican style, y'think.

Farmers & Mexicans chime in please

PS Arab Nights, be careful about middle of no where break downs and

getting stranded. Do you enjoy "Naked and Afraid" or "Dual Survival"?

Or prefer, "Alone".

Well at least they have "panic buttons" to get themselves saved.

Squirrel #22 this AM.

5 years ago I never had to compete for a tree ripened peach or apricot.

Now I don't get none.

Mid seventies. More humidity than I would prefer but less than the

oppressive humid heat of a week ago.

Got Weather?

We're back to the hot/humid + relentless rain cycles here. Just came in from checking the garden, and rot seems to be setting in, despite all the calcium everything has had. :(

High of 75F and hotter inland. Low of 67F.

Humid breeze and gray humid sky. Monsoon moisture they say.

This is NOT my desert by the sea. Too tropical.

The boysenberries stopped producing early this year.

The newest attempt at corn is about 6" high. The Fava Beans about 12" with some flowers.

Peaches near ripe and few enough I can count them. Electric Fence is on at nights now and squirrel traps are set.

The Fiji Apples that fall off the tree are bitter.

The small strawberries continue to produce sweetly from their classic strawberry planter.

BTW old black kitty is skin, bone and fur. She has always kept her water and urinating happening but, eating is poor.

Very blind to close up but, seems to figure things out in the distance. I think the Gravy of Gravy Lovers in the Friskies line pulled her through and helps her eat some cat pate and Nutro kitten hard food. At her worst she licks off all the gravy. Never eats the chunks that come with it.

Any ideas of tempting cat food. I wonder if she had a stroke. If it was metabolic or cancer, she should not have recovered at all. She did recover to eat a bit from her gravy only days.

Anyone heard of MacTheWolf lately.

No uploads since June 23.

No word since he had Heat Alerts in his area.

Just checked the Member List.

MacTheWolf is documented as on Board July 18, 2017 at 3 AM.

Was it really MacTheWolf or someone stealing his ID?

We can only imagine the worst.

Today a bit drier than yesterday with blue skies and some high clouds to the south.

Temperature about the same. 75F.

Just picked a peach. A ripe yellow peach.

It has peach fuzz like you don't see in stores no more.

Considering last year was totally unproductive, I am grateful I beat the squirrels to it.

I havev been avoiding going online due to the extreme heath here from 98 to 107. I have no AC, just a swamp cooler.

Have been working in the west Nevada desert where summer thunderstorms bring more dust and grit in the eyes than anything. Drove home today and coming across the Colorado Plateau it is monsoon season when Arizona gets beautiful pastel blue skies and towering cumulus clouds creating dramatic scenes that make you want to applaud the beauty.

For the last few years your glorious monsoon season has been spilling over into Southern California without the rain.

Just humidity. :( 😠

Please corral or fence your monsoon in.

It messes up my desert by the sea weather.

Temp in the mid seventies and humidity in the high eighties.

Dew point is close but, never achieved.

Doing a lot of hand watering today.
