Hooray the rains stopped and moved to Paolo's house . Now to get a shovel and a large trash compactor to put all the squirrels, moose, camels and elephants

With this weather system coming in, we closed down until Tuesday, as a lot of stuff in this town isn't open Monday anyway - so neither are we.

Lot of cooking to do, including:

Angel hair 'lower' carb pasta in marinara with plenty of cheese and nice red wine.

Crock pot ham and 15-bean mix.

Oyster stew, heavy on the butter and black pepper.

Vegetable beef soup, in other crock pot.

That should hold me and the two remaining dogs for the next 3 days.

I had a scottish terrier that had extreme allergy issues. He even had allergic reactions to hypoallergenic dog food, so I had to feed him human food. Poor little guy.

We've had snow on the ground since last Tuesday in Portland, and it has pretty well shut things down. As of tomorrow, schools have been closed for a week, and that includes community colleges. It is supposed to warm up tomorrow night and rain, so we might trade snow for flooding.

We've got a warm spell right now, 50F or so. It's warmer here than in Jesus A's neck of the woods! A welcome relief after a weekend of mixed icy precipitation.

The first of 3 rain storms, each bigger than the preceding one

is due to hit The O.C. in a few hours. One can feel it in the air.

Slammr, I'm sure Portland is gonna love this troika.

I planted a mixture of lettuce seeds I made from different envelopes of seeds.

Some are sprouting. The sweet shelling peas planted at the same time have not.

Strawberry and Blueberry are flowering while the Boysenberry remains dormant.

Hyacinth bulbs I leave in the ground are also sprouting but, they do not grow "right" here.

Still leafing and making a flower, some quite stout, never the full height of what I can buy at Trader Joe's.

Except for the Loquat trees, all fruit trees look dormant.

The snow finally melted and the schools are open for the first time in over a week. Haven't heard anything about floods. It's been raining but isn't a hard rain.
