The day has finally arrived that I have not been looking forward to, but wanting to just get it done and over with...

I will be checking in to hospital in about 2 hours, and having surgery in about four. I have developed a wonderful little anastimosis (sp?) with a fistula between colon and bladder. Causes no end of trouble. I expect to be in hospital for 4-6 days, and after that being a lazy wench, lying about eating bon-bons for 4 - 6 weeks.

In the meantime, If anyone has pressing problems that need attention (shoes tied, passwords, whatever), send a note to that Hunky Evil Overlord, Paolo. But do make sure it is something that needs attention quickly - he is busy with that hoard of little boys of his.

I am taking a laptop with me to hospital; they do have a wi-fi set up there for patients and guests. If I am coherent enough to function, I'll check in tomorrow or Wednesday.

Later

The Red Nun

Surgery is never fun. Get well soon...

I just got off the telephone with the Red Nun. He's in good spirits (we laughed a lot at his stories) and he is not currently in pain from the surgery. Modern painkillers are wonderful.

He thanks everyone for their concern and promised to be on the Archive sometime soon to read, if not to type. Think good thoughts in the direction of the Twin Cities.

Good Luck!!!! And don't lose that habit. Don't let them take it away from you. They're hard to find nowadays.

Been there. Done that. It sucks.

I am glad you are surrounded by so many wonderful folks in Minneapolis who will see to it that your supplies of bon bons will not run out. If I were closer I could show you my award winning sponge baths. I could even bring someone along in an item from the Cockpit and his palm frond in case you are too warm.

Please keep us posted and if you need anything at all let us know. You will be in my thoughts today.

I'm wondering who gives out the awards for sponge baths !

While working in a hospital I did receive a cares award for the quality of my patient care. This award was for an entire year and not just employee of the month. Of course the average age recipient of my care was about 80. The young athletes who suffered injuries playing their sports always wanted to do their own baths. Damn!

I just spoke with our beloved Kristoff, and he's up to having pudding now after successfully having all of the interior leaks patched. He's been up and about a few times, still in pain, still enjoying the drugs for pain, and fully returned to 100% cantankerousness! We had a lovely chat with others calling in often, too.

Unfortunately, the wi-fi at the hospital does not allow BME/EA as it is considered "offensive". The Nun is already bitching about THAT and threatening them with Divine retribution!

Any personal well wishes should be sent to archive@eunuch.org (where they will have to wait) or to me, so I can pass them on at once to the personal email address.

Thanks all, from Kristoff, and rest assured, he'll be back soon!
