T can be replaced with T or E. I for one love my T. I have friends for which it is poison. you need to find what is right for you. research the effects of no hormones. low doses of one or the other will reduce those unwanted side effects.

For me - lack of energy. Symtoms of mental depression, anxiety, memory failure and lack of mental focus. Lack of sex drive and issues with anger and overall frustraition.

Of the eunuchs who answered the survey last year, over 40% take no replacement hormones whatsoever. Just over 26% take either a small dose of testosterone or a small dose of estrogen in order ward off hot flashes and to reduce the chance of osteoporosis. There are also a number who are eunuchs only as a way station on their route to female and are taking a transitional level of estrogen. The balance are on full testosterone replacement. They continue to identify as male, but prefer (for any number of reasons) not to have testicles or have lost the function of their testicles for a variety of reasons.
Any decision on what, it any, HRT to use can be made at any time and, just as easily, changed should you decide that you not like the results. Don't feel rushed to do anything. Relax and listen to your mind and body as it adjusts.

Getting my energy back was one of the primary benifits of HRT. I take Androgel and think it has made life 1000x better. People who know me seem to like being around me better when I'm not in the hormonal dumps.

H.D.,
Thank you for sharing these things.
My best wishes for a speedy recovery (albeit a bit late on my part!).

I have been thinking more about trying some sort or HRT, I dont want anything major, just something if needed to keep my body healthy and workin. i know i dont want any of the effects of T. and am leaning towards some sort of E. I have seen a little about some natural plant form, Susan summers mentioned in her new book.
Any one knows the hormone im talkin about? i wonder if this would be a good option for me, the fact that its 'natural" is a plus.

If you want feminization then there are a number of estrogenic supplements . If you want to reamain masculine then DHEA is a compound that is available over the counter that a number of eunuchs use to prevent weight gain and muscle loss.

u?
Z,
The main unwanted side effect for me was emotional instability. Also had poor sleep, mild depression, and an odd discomfort in my body I call "the fragile feeling." ("Fragile feeling" occurred daily but only for short periods of time, usually around 4-6am.)
Here is how different HRT stacked up for me:
1. Progesterone (available as a cream over-the-counter): Improved sleep and provided emotional stability. However, it went too far by robbing me of emotions, plus it seemed to worsen depression. (Think 'PMS.')
2. DHEA (available over-the-counter): Was helpful for countering side effects. Think of it as "Testosterone-lite." Actually gave me some libido and made erections more likely. However, I don't like libido and erections, so another solution was sought.
3. Estrogen (prescription): Improves sleep and provides emotional stability without taking away the range of emotion. Also helps counter depression in my case. "Fragile feeling" is gone too. A winner!
4. Estroven (over-the-counter herbal menopausal relief): Tried it only briefly so no results to report. If you are looking for an herbal approach, it is worth trying. The instructions say you may have to wait two weeks or more to see results.
Hope you find an approach that works for you,
Terri
