Jeff,

You were my guiding light in getting cut. I quoted your situation the most. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to tell your story. It is because of men like you and the others on this site that take the time to tell what has happened both good and bad that helps others to make the right decision.

Thank you!

Jim

I'm quite overwhelmed to be a model. My only message is that some of us might be better off without balls for physiological reasons. Many men and quite a few of their doctors need to come to terms with that. Testicles definitely shouldn't be given up lightly, but neither should we seek to maintain them at all costs following deterioration and/or if they're a major source of discomfort. I think it ultimately served me well that a urologist gave me such a harsh prognosis with respect to my testicles, as well as an explanation as to the cause of problems with them. One of the most memorable aspects was that he was able to verbalise the prognosis and problems within a very few seconds of feeling my package. A friend who lost one of his testicles to a surgeon 30+ years ago and I have discussed this and decided that there was a far more casual and perhaps healthier attitude to testicles three decades and more ago than there is now. One of my docs only six years ago just responded to my concerns by saying modern medicine means that men never have to be emasculated. While that doc may be correct, that doesn't mean that pharmaceuticals are the best or only treatment for testicular or related problems. I'm still convinced that my decision to be castrated was a good one.

Of course, there are other reasons as well, including a psychological fixation on losing them. I can relate to some, but not to others. The human brain is ultimately our largest sex organ, and both the conscious and subconscious processes within it ultimately determine our mental and erotic satisfaction.

I couldn't agree more. I went through the gamut with urologists. One said live with the pain. One, in a teaching hospital in Chicago, wanted to send me for an experimental groin nerve resection. The last just pushed me hard for over a year to make sure what I was asking was what I wanted. It was very frustrating. I am glad I kept after him. It is great to be free of the ache!

Just because medicine has gone 'modern' doesn't mean it is any better. They are to quick to push pills. There is more money in return visits than getting the patient taken care of right off. It is just a business.

I agree. I saw my urologist for over a year. Eventually, I wrote to him setting out why I wished to be castrated. I also wrote that my wife would be coming with me to the next consultation.

When we met, he simply asked me, "Are you sure you want to go ahead with this?". I replied, "Yes." He looked at my wife. She nodded her agreement. Without any more discussion, he got out his diary and we fixed a date for my castration a fortnight later.

Next month, it will be two years since my surgery. I have no regrets.
