My experience is surgeons like their patients knocked out, mostly because it keeps them from moving around whilst sharp instruments are being used. Less opportunity for an accidental and unintentional cut to be made. During a castration, if a patient moves significantly, with as sharp as scalpels are you could end up with a significant laceration on adjacent tissues, and we all know what is adjacent.
The same can be done with a spinal block, which is what Dr Aguilar used when I had my scrotum removed. I was wide awake the entire time, but immobile from the waist down. I wish I understood Spanish so I could have listened to the chit-chat between the doctors

Recovery from spinal block takes longer though - it was well over 3 hours after surgery before I had regained enough mobility to be released from the hospital.

Congratulations reaching your goal. Hope you are still happy with the outcome.
May I ask how much estrogen you are on to prevent side effects from your castration?

I'm not sure what Baldwin is taking.
However my doc tells me that she wants me to have an Estrogen level around 125 pg/mL to maintain bone health. To do this she has me on TWO 0.1mg/day estrogen patches.
The patches are supposed to be among the best forms for doing estrogen as you get the most effective blood levels with the lowest applied dose, and minimize the stress of processing it on the liver and other organs... They are also relatively low hassle, I just have to change them twice a week, rotating the places I put them so that I use the same spot only every 4th set of patches.

is it easer to to have girls just as friends
That is an interesting question. The answer is yes if they see you as a friend not a MAN.
I have 2 such female friends. One of them knows that I was chemcastrated this summer. For me, yes, while castrated, mostly I do not see people around me as sexual objects. Attempts to approach me sexually leave me almost indifferent, and I do not have even a desire to think in sexual cathegories.

i fantasize more about the process of checking in for surgery of going up to the front desk and telling a pretty female receptionist that I’m there for a orchiectomy having the nurse walk me back to the operating room chair or table what was your experience like with that part of it
Haha!
This situation is described in detail in many fantasy stories published in the EA Literary Archive

Did they remove thru the abdomen or thru the scrotal sac?

first , they removed them through my scrotum. Removing through abdomen is major surgery usually because of cancer spread. Two, I am on .2 ml shot of estradiol once a week. I am already noticing some breast growth.
