Though I'd add, if you are getting this kind of negativity from who you're working with, I'd suggest exploring finding a new group to work with, as difficult as it may be.

i’ll most likely be seeing him at the beginning of september unless i find that a time opened up earlier. i’ll have to remember to check. as for finding another team, i think this is it. between what is available here and my insurance, its just this one place. i know there are places that don’t take insurance but that is out of the question. traveling is out of the question too. but maybe i won’t have the trouble this time around.

Another alternative would be to delay the appointment until SOC 8 is published. Once it's published and is the new standard, then you can drop it in their lap and ask them why they're still raising objections.

Yes, it has been out for quite a while now... IIRC it was released in the fall of 2022 just before that years big WPATH conference, which was very much about discussing it...
