usually Mr. L. responds quickly. But it is likely that you will have to wait several months for a first meeting, as he has a lot of other patients. If you have a detailed report on the 18 months of therapy, that would be very good, because that would probably make it much easier for Mr. L. to assess your case. I can confirm the positive experience with Dr. L.

He also wrote my therapist letter this winter with diagnosis non-binary.

I am now waiting for the confirmation of my health insurance that they will pay for zerodepth SRS.

And they have already put me on the waiting list for the operation in Essen.

I will need them because my health insurance turned down my request to pay and requests more information, which looks to me like they are just hiding behind formal rules.

They state that according to Dutch rules there needs to be a multi-disciplinary team to accompany me during the transition time.

I still have some formal battles to fight apparently, but I will not give up!

If I have understood you correctly, you have received the opinion for an operation and you cannot afford financially to pay for the operation yourself? I myself am in the process of saving and if everything works out as planned, i.e. that I also get the certificate, I should have saved the money next year. I am so excited whether I will get the certificate in Mülheim, it would be like a birthday for me.

Hello Ralph, you understood correctly although if necessary I would be able to pay myself. But the cost estimate of the hospital that I received says the costs can amount to € 20,000. And in my opinion my health insurance should pay for that. I did however have a 45 minute phone call today with someone of the medical team of my health insurance and I am really disappointed that they actually say that they won’t pay for a nonbinary person as the rules in The Netherlands are still for only the binary transitions (MtF or FtM). They will only pay for an operation after at least 1 year of social transition and hormone use. Both are not what I need and want, as I will stay male socially after the operation.

I hope this information also helps others to know what type of discussions you can expect if you try as a nonbinary person to get approval from your health insurance.

sorry to hear you have to deal with the same obstacles as I did and that your health insurance also ignores the legitimate needs of nonbinary people. If someone can't pay for himself, he is lost. Is it your absolute will to undergo zerodepth SRS, or is a simple nullification like mine also an option for you? That could save a lot of money probably.
