Re: Stopping HRT
It's been over 8 weeks now off testosterone and I just had blood work done my offical testosterone levels are 15ng/dl total testosterone 1.1ng/dl free testosterone that's what is able to be used by my body. I feel great am doing physical therapy 3 times a week and am increasing the weight I can lift. I was unable to do anything physical for 10 months since the first surgery so I lost alot of strength. The side effects have not been that bad. I've only had to deal with hot flashes and night sweats but they are getting better now. So for me it's been a positive experience.

I now have a new problem my endocrinologist office just called me and my P A refused to let me take estrogen low dose and want to talk to me about options. I have an appointment Thursday morning with him to try and get it through his thick head that's my body and my decision. They do it all the time for prostate cancer patients on androgen deprivation therapy I know because I've been chatting with one. I don't like what t does to me. My mother says I'm angry all the time and yell at her and I scare her because she thinks I might hit her, I would never raise a hand to her I'm not like that. I was always bullied in school because of that. When I'm on t I'm depressed can't think about anything but sex, watch porn and try to masterbate for hours with no avail because my plumbing is permanently damaged , I'm frustrated all the time because I can't get a sexual release, I'm antisocial and lock myself in my room. Everything irritates me. I bought myself a 55" flat screen tv for Christmas and a blue ray player and videos. I can't even watch it because it sets me off. I bought it so I could watch football but watched a couple college football games and 3 NFL games and now I just leave it turned off. Now off testosterone I've been happy I'm interacting with others and want to leave the house. I don't think about sex at all and except for that dream last night. I'm going to be assertive Thursday he's there to serve me not the other way around. Yes I'm pissed off right now. I've experienced life without testosterone for a month now and am enjoying it the only down side is its effecting my mind.
For me my Endo says it's an insurance thing. I decided to take a break from TRT, migrate back onto ERT.
Only two days but my anxiety is near gone - I weened off the TRT slowly.
Feels great! I Forgot what it was like to be happy. TRT is so horrible, anxiety all the time.

Got my estrogen levels back today they were esrtone 10 pg/ml and estradiol 0.1 pg/ml. I also saw my psychiatrist today and he's going to send a letter to my endocrinologist about how much better I am doing testosterone free and how he thinks that low dose estrogen would be good for me.

Re: Stopping HRT
I've been using an estrogen cream off the internet for just over a month now and just got all my blood test results back. It shows that I'm at the normal level of estrogens for a Male. I have an urologist appointment by phone May 5th and have had all my test results sent to him to see if he will take my treatment on. I would like to get my levels higher like a friend of mine has he said that his energy levels are back to normal and he feels great. I will let you know what happens.

Re: Stopping HRT
I use 10mg of Fortesta 6 days a week and skit one day. Some days the missed dose does not affect me but some days by the next day I know why I felt as I did...no energy, tired. No depression but overall malaise. When I was first castrated, I was on Androgel 20m gm dose twice a day. When insurance decided I would have to go to Fortesta., I went to 20mg a day. Now have dropped it to 1 10mg dose a day. I do wonder why stay on it but, since insurance pays all by 10.00 for it I guess i can stay on it. A question I have is it it goes out of date is it still good. Out of date I could still put it on and if it worked, o.k. If not, I would be without Testosterne. Longest I have gone is 20 days. No problem. Was going on a cruise and wondered how things would g0 if TSA decided I could not have it. Doc said they could NOT do it as long as I had proof of prescription.

Re: Stopping HRT
Recently got to finally get to see my endocrinologist for the first time. I really like him my oncologist said that I needed to get back on testosterone and I was told by a physician assistant to take 200 mg every 3 weeks. It caused all kinds of mental problems again and I called the endocrinologist office and they got back to me the same day and I had an appointment for a couple of days later and he said that he personally wanted to see me. I had recent blood tests that week and had them sent to him. The day came to see the endocrinologist I didn't know if it was a man or woman that I was seeing. He spent 1.5 hours working on putting in my test results in the computer and dealing with my health problems. I told him how I have been using estrogen cream for 5 months and was able to get my level up to 96 pg/dl and how the testosterone was ruining my life. He said that he has never done this before but is willing to work with me now I'm on .25 mg time released patches of estradiol called Climara changed weekly and 50 mg testosterone cypinate a month. He said that he wants my estradiol at 40 pg/dl but if I don't feel good he would work with me on it if it needs increased. I'm finally under a professional's care.

That sounds great! Always a relief when a provider listens and hears! Even if they don't necessarily agree with you, knowing they will work with the "whole you" is very comforting.
