After Castration the cords still palpable?

At first, definitively... but over time?

Mine was a simple orchie (through the scrotum) and after five years the cord ends are not difficult to find. I believe the left one has adhered to the inguinal canal but does not cause much discomfort, pretty rare actually. However, either side will be just like getting your balls hurt if the appropriate stimulus is applied.
