Frankly you're quite lucky. Most people do not have a licensed surgeon that close to where they live that is willing to provide this service.
You have no idea what my family situation is and I'm not going to write volumes about it or explain in detail my decision making process. Doubt my commitment if you will, but if I hadn't recently decided this was right for me I wouldn't be injecting Everclear every 5 days.
And I never said I had a willing surgeon. That is, of course, the big question yet to be answered. At this point I'm hoping my medical history relative to collateral damage from radiation for prostate cancer will play a big role. My next appointment is at the end of April. We'll see. If the urologist refuses to even discuss the matter it'll be 4th down and long yardage.

Injecting the Everclear is more likely to cause you complications that going to the Doctor in Detroit. But what do I know? I'm only licensed as a medical professional in my state of residence. I'm StOoPiD.
My point is that you were lamenting the fact that the help isn't so close to you as to be as distant from you as your nearest grocery store. Then you started talking about fear of complications if you were in a strange town, yet you admit you're self-medicating by injecting your testicles, which is more likely to cause problems than being in the care of a licensed MD. All I did was express frustration at a person that comes here, professes he wants this, has help (as far as these things go) pretty much next door, and then insists that the doctor must be local to Chicago. It's a BS roadblock.
And you're right, you don't have to justify your family situation to me, nor did I ask you to. I also wasn't questioning your motives, please go back and read what I wrote again. I specifically stated I wasn't, I simply said that more often than not someone coming into the EA stating they want to be castrated then putting up the roadblock of the help having to be local, are generally insincere. And when they are real, the usually come up disappointed.

I disagree strongly that it's a BS roadblock. I could go to a cash-and-carry urologist for three grand in medical costs and two grand in travel expenses, a week in free time, and the inevitable disclosure to the entirety of my immediate family, some of which I don't have the greatest of relationships with (though I'm hardly estranged from anybody, I could see that potentially happening as a result).
I could probably make the time. I cannot make the money, for the foreseeable future. I sure as hell can't make the money if you add in travel expenses. Insisting on (reasonably) local help can either be bullshit, or it can be a complete progress-stopping roadblock. For me, the travel costs alone are prohibitive.
Why wait? Empty wallet.
Why wait? Slow insurance.
Why wait? Inquisitive urologist.
Why wait? Because without family support for my decision, I'd probably end up prostituting myself to pay for food and shelter, never mind a steady supply of allergy medicine. It's surprisingly easy to be a 1%er, and I honestly doubt that even 95% of them could decide on short notice to get themselves fixed without causing long-term harm to themselves.

Well, ZeuterMe doesn't seem to have a problem understanding my rationale. I've driven to Will's Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and Cleveland Clinic for treatment because they're among the best at what they do so I have nothing against traveling to get the best care. As I've posted before, Dr. Arnkoff

That's a different issue than I had, but it touches on why I was thinking about finding a plastic surgeon to do the deed.

I've been wanting to do a scrotum-ectomy. Have had reports that arnkoff is a bit of a scar-ifying butcher with such things. Want it gone, but not at the expense of a lot of scar tissue - needs to fade to a clean look.... Plastic surgeon is likely best option for that.

That's why I went to Fara, cost a bit more but no scars and amazing aftercare.

Is this the Fara you are referring to?

Yes, Dr. Fara's primary practice is plastic surgery. Even my urologist was impressed at the lack of scarring.

Oh dear GOD! What's wrong with you wannabes? Detroit isn't that far from Chicago and I drove only 30 miles less to get my castration done when I did it.
This insisting your help be immediately local is crazy. If you truly want it, you'll go to Detroit. Sheesh!
I think you nailed it in one, wannabe, those of us who were really serious about getting castrated did whatever was necessary to achieve our goal. Even though I knew I would have to put up with pain and swollen and very uncomfortable balls, I injected mine with calcium chloride to cause sufficient visible damage to get them removed. I had put up with the pain caused by my vasectomy for long enough and just wanted the damned things gone. It is now just over a year since they were removed and I could not be happier with the result. I am so pleased that they are gone. I would have driven from Sydney to Perth to get this done had it been necessary.
