I also think there is a trend, that women come more and more in powerful positions. Men and women are psychologically different. Men have good abilities is logic and orientation in space, and women are strong in social skills and communication. Therefore more and more women get jobs in politics, management or police - and they doe a good job there. But there are also exceptions. The US-Airforce hired some women as combat-pilots, what requires tremendous orientation in space. And they have these abilities. But there are not so many of this type. We get it proven everyday, when we watch women driving a car. So the women become more dominating in scociety, because of their special talents, but they will not displace men, becuase the society needs the prevailling qualities of both sexes.

Oh, really? Is that why men pay higher liability insurance rates than women?

Men may, as a group, have better "orientation in space," but driving probably isn't the best example to illustrate that. Any advantage they have in orientation is offset by testosterone's causing them to drive aggressively and take chances.

I'm not trying to start a war of the sexes, but driving just struck me as a poor example to prove your point.

Then watch women parking!

I also do not want to start a war of sexes. What I wrote about the qualities of women, was neutral and as I think not at all respectless. I picked the example of car-driving more for a humorous reason - because it's a wide-spread cliché.

But with your argument, that men cause more accidents, because the drive more speedy and aggressivly, you are correct. I also watched this and came to know about many tragedies. The cause is without doubt testosterone, then mainly young men with high testosterone levels are involved in serious and tragic accidents.

The different strengths of women and men is not a conclusion of mine. This state of art in Psychology, proven by endless tests in reseach plants. But there is an interesting thing: As eunuchs, who are not on HRT reported, their ability of orientation in space decreases, but their abilitility for emotions and empathie increases. So my assumption: The differences in mental focus of women and men are only caused by the presence or absence of testosterone.

I think its more to do with nurture not nature. As a parent we not me but we as a general term tend to treat our daughters different from our sons, thus perpetuating the problem. I think you will find if you look at the two women who just finished Ranger School in the Army that they were raised to do and be anything they wished. Most girls are taught to be good little mommy's and most boys are taught to be ready to take on the world.

In my working life I had several women who were my boss, like all bosses, some were great others were not, however the best bosses I had were and the very worst were men.

As for driving and parking, I can teach anybody how to parallel park in about 5 minutes and they will be able to do it over and over again forever, like anything in life, you must first learn how for it to be easy.

I watched few. And seen driving style. What is usually lacking is confidence or a bit of aggressiveness (yes, a bit is good). And a bit of experience with car (feeling car size, while inside, but that goes with experience).

PS. I have an "adjusted" fence to prove that I can be terrible at parking. :)

Agreed. Men tend to take more chances, drive faster, and end up in more accident friendly situations than women.

We have all "adjusted" a fence or two in our time. --FLO--

I believe (and hope) that, as women gain equality, men will learn to adjust to a new social order where cooperation becomes more the norm instead of domination. The extent to which men will lean to better control the impulses to dominate or commit acts of violence driven by testosterone is an open question. A world where far more men were castrated would almost certainly have less warfare, rape, etc, but would humanity really be better off overall?

I think that a large reason men pay higher insurance rates is due to the fact that, statistically, men do more driving than women. So there is more risk involved from the start.
