If Paula Deen had been exposed as being GAY,, we would have said someone had an agenda, either revenge or blackmail. The fact that the accuser has a lawsuit dealing with this, sounds like she's working the media to get them on her side. How far back do you go to destroy people or get even? OHHH, they were wanting the government to atone and pay all the Indians for stealing their lands, did we make a settlement with all the Japanese/Asians that were interred in American "concentration" camps during WW2? We need to sue our parents for bringing us into this world of horrors.!!! See your lawyer today.

Surely we can sue Ronald Reagan's family for something he said about gays when he was alive. Or that blond woman politician, Michelle Bacchman, for her spoutings. Any other famous people that have offended gays? AND, for this site, all the transgenders surely know someone who has offended the group of TG's with their oral atrocities. It's a plot by all the lawyers to leak documents so that they can get richer,, we'll just sue and sue and sue. Oh wait, we're doing that already. hhmmmmm Now quit lookin' at me crosseyed, or I'll have to start ranting about Presidential dynasties.

Now please stop trying to justify Paula Deen using the "N" word and making "Negros" serve dinner.

There is a reason that she is wrong and it is purely this:

It's saying that slavery and the subsequent racism against the African race was OK.

IT's saying that there is no baggage or no taint or no bad intent when the word N*****r was used in the past and is used now. THere are a host of other expressions -- Sambo, porch-monkey, jiggaboo, spic, wop, kike, pickaninnie, and quite a number of others to include faggot, fairy, queer, ass-pounder, fudge-packer, rug licker, sodomite, pansy-boy, fruitcake, dyke, and more... I don't think I need to go on illustrating that racially charge words exist and represent the worst of racism. Using N*****r is just as hurtful and just as hate-inspired as any of those other words.

These are not the Seven Dirty Words -- Fuck, Shit, Piss, Cunt, Cocksucker, Motherfucker, Tits -- that we can giggle about. These are words that carry heavy emotional and intellectual attitudes that society considers wrong. These are attitudes that exemplify the worst behaviors and worst crimes of centuries past. The hatred of race differences, the hatred of sexual orientation, the subjugation of women, the blaming of jews and other nationalities is wrong.

These words are not merely "dirty" they represent evil in its most condensed form. . .

These are words that are intended to hurt and cause pain.

These are words that demean.

White women of a "certain age" do not get a pass on maintaining racist customs like dressing African American men and asking them to serve dinner like the plantation owners of pre-civil war days.

White men or women do not get a pass on any other racially charge epithet.

Paula Deen so casually said "yes I used the word" and so casually admitted to her bad behavior that it is hard to "forgive and forget"...

Paula Deen does not see her racism as such and falls back into the silent practice of discrimination society has condemned.

so when you say Paula deserves a break, or Michelle Bachmann deserves a break, or Phyllis Schlafly or Anita Bryant, or George Wallace, or David Duke deserves a break, I can tell you that they do not. Their words are evil, racist, and wrong.

And society should publicly scorn those who use those words in stupid, nasty and mean ways.

Dave, I'm not going to condone Paula Dean's use of the N word, but apparently her use of the word was quite some time ago and the recent controversy was largely stirred up by Lisa Jackson in order to extort money from Paula Dean...

“Prior to the filing of this suit, Jackson repeatedly threatened to assert scurrilous claims publicly in the press unless huge sums of money were paid to Jackson and her counsel, which demand was refused. Jackson’s suit should be dismissed, for among other reasons, on equitable grounds on the basis of clean hands.”

It's also worth noting that Lisa Jackson is Caucasian woman in her 40's.... How it is that she was harmed by the Paula's alleged used of the N word, is something of a mystery. I am in no way a fan of Paula Dean's cooking, but as more and more details emerge it seems that this lawsuit is more than likely a bogus attempt to extort money.

So if we are going to trash Paula Dean, let it be for her excessive use of butter.

No one is condoning anything. She was under oath and told the truth. That's the end of it. Look how old she is. People of that age used the N-word all the time. It doesn't make it nice, but it is an historical fact. Only Marxists and Republicans insist on changing history to suit their whims of the moment; the grown-ups face the truth, however unpleasant. The N-word is used in Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories (for children) and pickininny occurs in Mary Poppins. Huckleberry Finn starts out accepting the evils of southern "culture," but learns that it was morally depraved.

If you do not accept repentance and insist that any transgression must remain on the books forever unforgivable, you'll see everybody going to Hell.

Amazing how many sin-free people there are all ready to cast the first stone. We do turn on our heroes when their clay feet show.

Who knew how disliked Paula Deen must really be? Now she can't even sell hams. Again, this sort of public pillorying has reached lynch mob level when it's a lead story in national news. And has anyone listened to the young these days? Thanks to alleged musicians who must have a limited vocabulary, the N word has crept back into the spoken word-not to mention text and tweet and the appalling Face Book-of them. The hypocrisy of this grows exponentially as those who want to cover their own guilty words rise to ridiculous height to protest one woman who told the truth.
