How was the food? I ate at the "hot dog car" - sandwiches, snacks, coffee, etc., (I forgot to list that car in my earlier post). If I had enough money for premium or first class tickets (or, if there were any left) they would have fed me. I understand the food was good. Passengers slept in hotels/motels at Duluth. We were provided with transportation to and from the train depot. The last time I took an overnight train was a long time ago and I do not think I appreciated how good it was. I am planning to take a train from St. Paul to New Orleans in about two years, including a "roomette" for sleeping between Chicago and New Orleans. This train ride was, in part, an experiment to see how well I stand up to train travel. I have been told that I am no longer a good candidate for traveling by airplane. I plan to take whatever short trips I can now that I find I have enjoyed this one. --FLO--

you are a true motor-head or gear-head or engine-head.

I like that but then I like steam engines, too.

Although licensed as a pilot my very favorite job on boats was as the engineer. Making friends with the Chief Engineer of the American Queen during a trip last fall provided many dividends in increased enjoyment for me. --FLO--

I'm planing to travel from Germany to UK.

I think I'll do this by train like I did about 4.5 yaers ago.

It will effort not more time than travelling by plane.

It is not cheaper but more economical.

I took the train from Victoria station to Paris, before the chunnel. It boarded a ferry boat. So 😎

If only America could get trains to work like that.

It is as if the train is there for me, and not me there for the train.

My cheese, french bread, bottle of wine, cold cuts shared among the strangers in the compartment and they shared theirs.

There is no reasonable excuse for the West to be so train retarded.

I would trade the East - - Fed Funds for their modernization to under ground utilities and

the West gets Fed Funds for rail as fine as the Atlantic corridor, if not more modern.
