My kid's a bit young for those. And I think I'm too old for them.

Paolo beat me to it.

She's 10 years old and her mother would throw a fit the likes of which would rival vesuvius' eruption.

Her Aunt at her age was fixated on My Little Pony.

Her 14 yr old cousin (a girl) loves all that anime stuff with the teen dating angst in it.

At one point she (the 10 yr old) like that furry thing with the funky ears -- Inyuasha or something like that.

They never liked barbies those were too easy...

I remember one year having to get small roundish, soft glowy things that were an entire family with that trill-like hair. Cute as hell and really sweet toys for both those now grown mothers but the crowds were fighting each other for them. If you dare to set one down on the counter as not wanted, some hand would snatch it away before the eye could see.

I've been through cabbage patch dolls, furbies, toma-i-gotchies-money-outsie-ur-wallet-thingies that no one even knows existed on earth nowadays.

My idea of a good gift was talking them to the CHildren's STore and buying their clothes for the next 6 months or so.

Then they grew out of those sizes and that got HARD -- uncle (plaintive little voice that would break your heart, they would start) can I get a see-through blouse -- NO --Uncle, (again the voice) can I get the shorts (like Daisy Duke shorts) NO! -- OK then I don't like anything today --

Sigh...

Amazon is so much easier but less fun.

Just whatever you do Dave do not get trolls. Those things creep me the hell out.

Their glowy and beamy eyes give me the jitters.

Maybe it's cause I watched too much chucky films as a kid

My nephews and nieces hated those and not for the eye reason. I never figured that out and really never tried but the first time we were in a store and they saw them they mocked the living crapola out of them the way only kids can do. Jeepers were they mean.

If it weren't for these kids and their toys and needs and all their tiny troubles, life wouldn't be worth it.

This is what it is all about. This is the fun of living -- kids.

Paolo wrote: Mon Dec 17, 2012 9:42 am When we were kids, the house next door had the best hills. It was the old barnyard, so there was a fence along the road to stop us. Eventually, those old fence posts (native timber) gave out and the guy took the fence out. Then the snowplows would come by, back when our county HAD them, and make a great wall where the fence was. Thing was, with a good push, you could use the wall as a ramp to fly out over the road and crash into the woods on the other side of the road. The higher the wall, the more of a ramp effect. We used to terrorize passing motorists by trying to time it to fly OVER the cars and into the woods. It's a wonder none of us were killed. Then again, we survived all that dangerous playground equipment back in the 60's-70's, too. In 6 years of elementary school, there was ONE broken arm from falling off the top of a slide.

YES! The sled is put together in under 2 hours! I should run an ad in the local paper doing it for a fee now!

DAMN! I just KNEW that this was you... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2UDA6q9R94)

Of course I believe in Santa Claus and I do everything in my power (that usually means spending money) to make sure he arrives on Christmas.
