Re: Catholic Church sets up an exorcist hotline to deal with demand
If you can find the essay by Stephan Hoeller, "The Devil You Say"
It describes the personality types more prone to possession.
Those who are goodie - goodie. Those who deny the elements of "the shadow" in themselves are most vulnerable.
It goes on to describe various aspects.
Hope someone catches up to it and comments.
Before I rejected Jesus Christ as the Messiah, I did study. Not because I was born that way.
Suggest the same about any subject of spirituality rather then go into auto diss mode.

I Do Believe In Ghosts.
I know too many first hand accounts of persons visited by apparitions of a departed person when they died.
Two were children, one was seven and pleaded with the apparition not to go, He said it was ok and he had to go.
I never got the apparition but, the middle of the night "knowing". I never asked for it. I was drafted!

Psychological studies of Nazis after WW2 showed they were more likely than most to believe people were all good or all bad, and of course they were all good. Based on this research, psychologists developed the "F-Scale" - Fascist Scale - that was used for many years to identify totalitarian leanings. Sounds similar to that essay about personalities prone to possession.
When an important person in someone's life dies, it's easy to "see" them again through memory or imagination. People you know well can be visualized in conversation with you. This is an intense form of daydreaming. I suppose most "ghosts" are like that.

Aliens? Angels and/or Demons? Trans-dimensional Beings? Ghosts?
Spirits in the material world?
To those who scoff, who would say "prove it", if you think they exist:
To them I say, "Prove to me that They do not exist."

tugon (imported) wrote: Sun Dec 02, 2012 1:36 pm I am a citizen advocate for a person who is developmentally disabled. Curtis was talked into going to church with a neighbor. After his third visit they held an exorcism for him. They told him he would not be "retarded" if they could drive out the demon. The neighbors met me and had a better understanding of demons.
Was this a Catholic Church? I would bet not. Sounds a bit like the Westburro Baptist (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q= ... WM424sfshw) bunch... possessed loonies looking for likewise...

Kinda hard to prove a negative, ain't it?

You must experience them to know for sure, then nobody will ever believe you but you know, inside you know.
I have known at least 6 ghosts in my life, and know of a couple more.
Lookup the ghost of toys r us in San Jose Calif.
They lock up at night come in in the morning and all the train sets will be on the floor and running. or all the basket balls will be on the floor, well documented.
But Halloween was over a month ago.

We sure want them to exist. Look at the popularity of movies and TV shows about supernatural beings of all kinds. Shows about ordinary people seem so tame and boring by comparison. I speak as someone who just watched his first "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" last night. For people who can no longer bring themselves to believe in mainstream religions, supernaturalism is a sort of step-child faith. "We know there's something out there, even if it doesn't have a halo and play the harp."?

Typical,....
"MARANATHA"
...an Aramaic word asking Jesus to "come" in Aramaic... (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marana_tha)
...another K
Reminds me of the video "The Craft" when Robin Tunney was laying on her back in that short skirt and knee socks (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_me9vf ... 1_1280.jpg) saying, "Manon, come into me..." ...and me thinking, "...how in the hell could he resist?..."

...
This is where I usually trot out my story about the Vector Bosons which are cousins not to the Higgs Boson but to Bozo the Clown.
Today, I promised to finished an edit and thus, y'all will have to wait for the Vector Bozons stories of religious fervor.
There's quarks out there, and quantum strings, but not mighty demons seeking lowly earthmen as hosts to live cheese-illy and vicariously and sinfully stupid and worthless lives.
