No point in DST in summer, and switching to eternal DST is plain stupid in winter.

And with that, the Republicans said it would take 10 years to replace all the highway road signs from miles to kilometers and tie up USA businesses in that stupidity for too many years. Why we would have lost the cold war in metrication.

I just went through this again when I had to learn ISO 14001 and ISO 9000 standards and help implement those. I heard equivalent lies about the standards from people who have not a clue what it takes to do business worldwide and the need of standards.

I am not against metric, a base 10 is easier then a base 12 system. The problem I have with it is that I can see a half inch or a foot or a yard, I can't picture the metric equivalent to them.

So I am watching the tube and this guy says its 27 meters away, this does not tell me anything, now if they want us to learn metric they should be saying its 27 meters or XX feet away, now I have a reference point. The same holds true with pounds and ounces, and Kilos, I can look at a person and tell he weighs about X pounds, I have no clue how many stones that is.

The other day I went to the store to get a couple nuts for these bolts I had, I did not know the size, turned out they were metric, I got the nuts then home, OK into the metric sizes, this looks about that size, nope larger, ok this is the one, it said 13 on it, it looked like a 7/16 but I got the right metric tool for the job, but not without trial and error.

So yes I would love to see a metric world, we could change F to C, get rid of the 32k register and make it 10, change all the plot maps and townships and the distance to the sun but in the end, 6inches is still.................

maybe they could change the distance between tracks for the rail road, now that's a measurement does not have a modern equivalent. Go ahead ask.

Several mechanics have complained to me that too often

metric / God's units compatible nuts and bolts and such are not compatible

because the threads are slightly different.

So as I understand, fhunter would benefit most from Standard Time in the Summer

and Sub Standard Time in the Winter. (That's back one hour)

Seems like Sub Standard time would work for Canada and Alaska too.

Personally, I prefer calculating distances in Furlongs Per Fortnight...

My dear, Furlongs per Fortnight is a measure of speed not distance. It is the appropriate measure for describing the velocity of a racing snail,(about 80 furlongs/fortnight )
