Change the Title of the Thread then.
I don't need no stinkin' TV.
Such enthusiasm for Hell on Wheels.

Well I just watched the latest 30 minutes of story in 60 minutes.
And only three more episodes to go until, hiatus. Pretty short season.
And reminded poor Dish Network subscribers don't get to watch.

the cable channel AMC has had BIG BIG success with two series that it produced.
1) Breaking Bad,
2) The Walking Dead.
So they commissioned another series set in the years just after the civil war to build the transcontinental railroad -- hence the name -- Hell On Wheels -- meaning steel wheels on steel rails
It has Indian troubles, North South leftover hate, crooked politicians and lots of other angst.

Mad Men starts in the late fifties and has progressed past the JFK assassination.
The decor change from plush to modern and sleek was fun to see again.
The styles and products they take on are from the era like Mohawk airlines.
They do running gags like a Jaguar car not starting, just when the Brit was trying to kill himself too.
At the beginning of the series, Jews are in a separate society.
Now they are marrying in and getting jobs at the firm, which also hired a Black receptionist but admittedly for publicity.
They used the Bob's Big Boy down from NBC studios for their trip to L.A. to represent the era.
And ran into "the beautiful people", remember them?
And the exploration of the pre Hippie counter culture has been fun and I still do not understand
one word of Meditations in an Emergency by Frank O'Hara, a book of that era Mad Men made popular.
It does bring back memories of the times. And I did like the late fifties times more then the sixties in memory and the show.

Mad Men recommender
Start with the beginning.

Hell On Wheels
Now this show could and should have been better.
It has that Showtime productions type pace
And regardless of Emmy's, Showtime can really ruin a good topic.
Someone sure spent a lot of money on a story and cinematrography that can't keep a pace.
Also, unlike Revolution - no one even cared enough to comment on the recent episodes.
Hell On Wheels.
2 hardly smilies, out of 5.
"Generosity, that was my first mistake" Name the movie.
But, credit to the cinematography brings it up from the 1.25 it would otherwise earn.
I guess its' deficiencies are the product of the "Producer". The guy who construct the project to fit in the hour.

Eddie Albert lived down the street.
Hans Conried flew a UN flag every day from his more distant home.

The two hour finale of Hell on Wheels was a mistake.
Hour one was already one hour too long.
It does not hold my attention.
Did anyone find the HoW finale enjoyable? Or the series?
Moi
Blame my ADHD, not ME.
Part II
The second hour's only redeeming quality was the ending was more forthcoming then during the first hour.
Ratings
1 or less, on a scale of 5.
Too much irritating music.
A helluva lot of production money wasted on poor scripting and worse music consultants.
There should be a law against such waste.

Never watched it, I don't get AMC, when was it on? Sunday is FOOTBALL it starts with the pregame at 11AM, 9AM on the left coast, and goes until about 11PM with the final post game shows. Now don't tell me you don't like football, there is no music in it which is one of your qualifications for a good show. Like the movie 10 with Bo Derek and the music Bolero by Ravel, you would not have liked it, it had music.
