Obviously a fan of the Italian design house, Bertone. Four of your cars are by Marcello Gandini (The Lambos) or Giorgetto Giugiaro (the Muria & Ghibli), both of whom worked for Bertone at the time. The Iso probably should have been on my list, perhaps in place of the Jaguar.

Sorry, to me one of the most beautiful cars will always be the car my dad had before he passed.

Datsun 280ZX "Scarab" conversion. Supposed to have been a Corvette V8 engine. Done up in a nice dark copper with metallic flakes in the paint. No power steering, manual, was supposed to be an absolute bitch to drive, and ran on premium leaded. Yet I'd buy it back in a heartbeat if I had the chance.

The Flip-outs were called Semaphore signals, and they are found on 50's vw's. Very Rare. In addition, when they did go to the big rectangular rear window, many people who owned the small oval windows went in and had that particular body part replaced in favor of the large rear window. Still, I love beetles, Buses, Single cabs, Ghias, and even Notchbacks. I am a club member in my city for these things, so I guess I am a fanatic about them.

OK I admit it, my dads first VW was a 1962 bug, big window in the back. I had a square back when I got out of the service, and later a bus, which was wonderful for going to all those damn dog shows with the dogs, and kids, it was a forerunner of the mini van. They had a sound that you could tell without looking you knew a VW just went by. They all sounded like they needed a valve job.

My first car was a 1968 VW beetle that I shared with my brother. He took over the car in 1971. It was a nice car to commute to college. A real kidney-cruncher on a long drive but a good, sturdy car.

Years later, I think about ten years ago, the neighbor kid bought and restored a Beetle and one nice summer day, drove it up my driveway to show off the (now running and repainted and reupholstered) version.

I heard that thing put, put, put, put, put on my driveway and new immediately what it was. He complained it was hard to stop and I couldn't help from laughing. He was use to power assisted brakes.

I have fond memories of that four wheeled beast.

The one I knew belonged to my parents friend, who was stationed in Germany, married a German girl and brought her and her car to the US. I believe at that time the govt. would ship a serviceman's car as personal possessions. I think that's how a lot of the MG's and sports cars first arrived here after WW2.

Anyway the semaphore signals fascinated us kids, and we thought it was the coolest car, particularly zipping around the big American cars.

My Citroen 11CL had semaphore signals, though I had to rebuild them to get them to work.

Jeep CJ...any year beginning of time through 1986....OK, I'll go as far as 1996, but those square headlights are questionable!

After that they weren't really Jeeps anymore...these new things with coil springs, 4 foors and V6's.....sacrilege!

There are cars that call attention. I remember the first time I saw a Chrysler 300. Wow. I felt the same in a small city in another country when I saw my first Studebaker from about 1950. Wow.
