Re: Provigil or Adderal for low energy and lethargy
I;m glad to hear more about Adderall since my Psychiatrist was considering it for Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I will think seriously before taking it and will wait until I see a Pain Management Specialist before making a decision. Right now I am in the Medicare Part-D "doughnut hole" and I am trying to take the minimum amount of medication until I figure out how I am going to pay for them.

I switched to Vyvance but insurance covers it so I pay $30 a month for 40mg. It has been a life saver with my T dropping so much with the alcohol injections. I can feel how much it helps me because when it wears of in the evening I just crash and sleep hard.

Re: Provigil or Adderal for low energy and lethargy
I have taken Adderall for many years and it works very well for me.
I have a Doctors prescription and I take 3 of the 30 Mg tablets throughout the day. Normally I take two in the morning and one early afternoon.
It is excellent to help me focus and to help with low energy and sleepiness.
It is a little bit of a hassle in that since it is a level 2 controlled drug, I must get a NEW signed prescription every month (no refills). However my Doctor has been excellent to work with.
WARNING, apparently it affects different people in very different ways. My Doctor says that some people get FAR too much stimulation from even a small dose. She said my 90 Mg dosage is fairly high, but it does NOT make me hyper and actually just makes it easier to focus on tasks and not get distracted too easily.
You most certainly should work through a Doctor to start using Adderall (or Provigil), but my experience with it has been excellent.

Re: Provigil or Adderal for low energy and lethargy
Both are stimulants.
Long term use of these medicines shortens one's life as they work by increasing BMR, basal metabolic rate. Nicotine is most similar yet Caffeine is an exception in studies. Ref. Consumer Union Reports on Licit and Illicit Drugs.
The best energy is honest energy. Not vitamined, juiced, sugared, nicotined or pharmaceuticaled.
A good place to start is a standard,
Hypoglycemia Diet.
Stabilize the blood sugar and see how you feel.
Start the day with eggs, whole fruit, nuts, cheese, lots of water, maybe some coffee/tea as you choose.
Eat five times a day, like a Hobbit but, it must be proper food. Some nuts, cheese, real deli sliced meat, takes some planning unless you will simply reach for the Slim Jims (Improved Slim Jims, Now Jose Free)
G'luck
A worker fell in the Slim Jim machine and production was off for near a year while they cleaned the parts.
Thank You Upton Sinclair
