I hope I am wrong, and this is a temporary glitch, but something needs to be done to stimulate this board.🆘

I wasn't here because of the recent extra-heavy snow.

I've noticed the same thing, but think it is sort of positive. In the early days of the Internet, it was truly amazing to find a group of like-minded people who shared such a deep, and "dark", desire or interest. It was a huge relief to most of us, and there were certainly active days of discussion, discovery, and argument.

Basically, I think there was a pent up flood of people from years of isolation who all came in at once to enjoy the community.

I think the actual rate of new people with this desire is fairly low, so the rate of joining has probably slowed. Furthermore, the Internet is not new and so people are more used to having such community forums as an outlet -- so the whole idea of a forum is less novel.

Also, due to the lessons learned we've all come to mostly being in agreement about how to approach our desire. The early experimentation in DIY castration has been proven to be unreliable and dangerous. The people who met up with underground cutters (which the Internet made easy to find) paid the price and the rest of us are more wary. We've scoured the whole planet to try to find doctors who will reliably provide the service, and unfortunately they've been few and far between -- and frankly haven't been top doctors.

Anyway, with our wisdom we've become relatively boring. We're no longer seriously considering getting our junk hacked off by someone we meet on the Internet. Instead, we pursue and suggest a proper regimen of psychiatrist then urologist in proper medical setting.

The bad thing is I expect that people who are less wise are not sticking around here, and instead gravitating to more extreme forums. I worry for them.

Basically, we've become a rightfully cautious, less novel, less pent-up community and sadly that does reduce the vibrancy of the community. But overall I think it is a good place we've arrived at.

Yes. I feel a bit that way too.

However one criticism I would make is that there is an over sensitivity to any controversy that arises. In Moi's thread on Gentiles I got myself into an embroilment with some questions on the diaspora. I prepared a post explaining what I meant but the whole of that sub thread had disappeared without a word of explanation before I could send it.

Cluck bloody cluck.

Nothing like censorship to kill a good thread and discourage posting.

Wow. I thought I was prolific here. I've averaged about 1 post every 3 days for 8 years. Decent.

However, the top posters like Riverwind have averaged 1.5 per day for 9 years. That is really quite incredible!

Note: My participation has also failed in terms of donations and while I have actually met people in person from the board they were not anyone from the "real" community here.

I am proud of my contributions to the News subforum though. I've regularly scoured the news for years to find the best tidbits I can find and share.

For what it is worth, in the current incarnation of the EA, since about 2001 or 02, we have had well in excess of 30,000 registrants. Most don't stick around beyond an initial look see. Many have been deleted over the ages for lack of activity

Despite Google and Bing banning us, we still get 3-5 new registrations a day.

However, when someone is new or been here a long time and finally starts to post the old timers will respond, we will very seldom ever start a post.

And Amm, you can see we do respond, its up to you to start the thread.

As they say...perhaps to much river under the balls....or is that balls under the bridge...no, perhaps water in the balls! ...oh you know what I mean!

Didn't know about the Google/Bing ban. I found EA on Google years ago. Do they offer an explanation? What would it take for them to change their mind?

Seems to me EA meets all the criteria for an information-based site Google uses for its AdWords service. I know how short of funds EA is, but I wonder about a $50 or even $25 campaign on Google AdWords. Google policy, so I understand, is to display and rank all sites buying AdWords from them.

Anyway, there are many forms of castration, psychological as well as physical. It can be very difficult to talk about. Many people may not have their feelings sufficiently organized to talk about them. But the presence of a kindred community is still important. Even lurking may be therapeutic.

Would it be acceptable to e-mail those who are registered, perhaps with questions about their interests, how they use the site, or reminders of some of the sites features? In other words, e-mail marketing.

Just did a Google search for "Eunuch Archive," and it came right up. Search for "eunuch stories," and "eunuch archive" is listed as a related search at the bottom of the page. Search for "eunuch," and Eunuch Archive heads the fifth page of results. Of course, not many people reach the fifth page.

Has anyone tried "search engine optimization" or SEO? I know that much time is already invested in the site, but there are ways to raise EA's ranking in search results. Google looks at the number of other sites that link to a site. The more inbound links to a site, the closer it gets to the top of the listings. Increasing inbound links by posting brief articles on other sites (there are sites which consist entirely of such articles), bulletin board postings with a link, or even just asking the webmasters of other compatible sites to post a link to EA is a way of increasing inbound links and rising in the rankings. There are groups which will do (free) press releases that go to hundreds of publications. A few mentions in small papers can boost visibility on the net, especially if the site URL is included. If anyone has a video, or wants to make one, it can be posted on YouTube with an accompanying link to EA.

Please excuse me if all these things have already been done, or discarded as goofy, or if they're too much trouble. I'm just trying to be helpful.
