Look, I'm not bitching, I was simply saying my personal opinions. Now I'm not sure if you live in America or not, but here we have a right to be able to say what we think. It is the First Amendment rights as long as it doesn't cause any harm to others.
You dona't have a first amendment right here. This is a private medium. The first amendment in the USA only says that the GOVERNMENT shall not abridge free speech. Private speech can legally be abridged any time. Tell your employer you have the free speech right to call him an asshole. See how long you last. Same applies here. Don;t like it? Too bad.

What upsets me is when a "list of new stories" is hijacked by episodes 85 to 95 of a story that, by definition, is not new!
A serial story should be allowed one entry in a list of stories, not one entry for every slow, merit-deficient. mind-numbing chunk that the author throws our way!
And yes, just my opinion. Other opinions may vary.
Without some of the longer, serial, stories, there wouldn't be any new stories at all, so the "new stories" list isn't really getting hijacked. And what do you propose for the added chapters? If they aren't listed in the new story list, there is no place to list them, and you'll never be able to find them.
What a bunch of whining crap. Why would anyone want to post a story, when this is the reaction they get? I don't think anyone is holding a gun to anyone's head forcing him to read the longer stories.

The point is that I'm simply saying my opinion, if you don't like that then so be it, however you do not see me putting the opinions of others down now do you? Answer this : this is a public forum, meaning anyone can view it, thus it isn't "private speech". In fact anything posted on the internet is viewed as being public. So please do not try to use the "Private Speech" stuff when its on a forum that is easily viewed by the public.
Again I'm simply saying my opinions and if you don't like it then that is your own problem there is no need to get into any kind of useless time wasting argument over the internet.
The whole point of this thread was to simply see what other people thought of extremely long stories and what their opinions of them were.

Test my theory any time. I feel quite free to exercise the rights of private speech any time.

I'm not an administrator on this site, but I have my own; and it has an active message board. Although I attempt to be fair, Freedom of Speech does not apply to my site. The site is owned by me; I'm responsible for what's posted on it; and I decide what I allow and what I don't.
This site is no different. The owners and administrators decide what is allowed and what is not. This is a privately owned board; and Freedom of Speech does not apply.
Of course, not everyone likes long stories. A short story I've posted might get 10,000 hits; a serial might get 2000 on each chapter; but that it's getting 2000 hits chapter after chapter is a good indication that some people do read long stories.
An author mainly writes for himself. We're lucky that they share with us. As others have said, if you don't like what shows up as new stories, write your own. As someone that has posted a bunch of stories to this site, my gut reaction to such complaints is, "**** ***."
If you want short stories, you should be going out of your way to comment on the stories you like. I don't see you doing that.

I must admit I just don't get the purpose of this thread. Seems to exist just to question the validity of multi-part, longer stories, that somebody doesn't like.
Bugs me when I see this kind of thing. The boards' management busts their fuckin' asses every fuckin' day to keep this place online and managed well, and review and post stories for us to read.... and people want to complain about list-hijacking??
Fuck. Shut the fuck up. These guys have work to do and lives to lead, and we should all be GLAD that anything gets posted at all.
Again...
... Fuck.

It's posts like this and the other recent complaints about the stories and related features that have caused acceptance of ANY new stories at ALL to be indefinitely suspended .
Again, I'm simply saying my opinions. If you don't like it, then that is your problem. T

here is no need to get into any kind of useless,
time-wasting argument over the Internet.
So why did you even start the thread?
As Kristoff and I were discussing on the phone tonight, it only took 1 or 2 kids in elementary school to ruin it for the rest of the class. Well, you were one of THOSE kids, it seems. And in the interest of fair play, "you started it." As a site Admin, I've finished it.
By the way, your paper was graded and corrected. You failed.

Well it's obvious that a lot of those among us are ontologically challenged followers of the philosophical dictum "Bitchum Ergo Sum" (I bitch Therefore I Exist.) If they don't have something to bitch, moan, and whine (the classic BMW) about, they begin to fade into the shadows of non existence, reserved for those who have not spread their whining all over the web. Combine this with entirely too much time on their hands and you have the present situation.
Most trans web sites suffer from the same syndrome.

IMO - best solution would be to show only last part of the long stories in the list and add grouping. But I don't know how hard this would be to implement. My php is at best at the "dog's stage" - I read it, I understand it (more or less), I can fix small things. But to write from scratch?
