Merced gate way to Yosemite, front door. But if you really what a nice drive go up 120 to sonora then go in the back way, its the only way you will see El Capitan.

Interesting tidbit, On October 23 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/October_23), 1999 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999), BASE jumper and stuntwoman Jan Davis died while making an illegal protest jump in support of lifting the park's ban.

Yep, made her case for base jumping.

anyway its a beautiful drive.

It was one of our favorite places to go for a day outing in the off season, doesn't everybody go to the park for a picnic, at Yosemite?

You know they say San Diego has the best weather in the whole country, only rains about 8 to 10 days a year. I have reletives that live there and every time I have gone there it has been one of those 10 days. Reminds me a lot of Seattle.

The weather that you get called rain when it heads east and somewhere around OK it turns to snow and heads north, Tonight we are going to get our first blizzard of the year.

Temps in the teens, snow, 2 to 4 inches to 2 to 4 ft. you never really know tell its over.

I enjoyed my two years in Milwaukee. The second winter got to my hands and I knew I was not designed for the cold.

Shoveling snow and walking in the house to defrost my mustache is something I am not likely to experience in Califo-nia, except in snow areas like Big Bear, Arrowhead etc.

I liked the attitude of Milwaukee folk and the seasons with variable weather in each season. Storms in summer and the like. And people really seemed to appreciate a nice day with more value as to picnic and just, get outside.

My farm house was in Mequon, a 30 minute drive north of Milwaukee. I understand now it is continuous suburban sprawl so as not to know where Milwaukee stops and Mequon begins, Califo-nia style.

It is lovely country. Especially the wonderland after an ice storm.

I was very impressed with how fast they get the snow plows out.

Califo-nia could learn a thing or two about keeping the grapevine open.

Well most of San Diego received between an inch and two inches from this last storm. However, another storm is moving in tomorrow (Thursday) and is due to stick around tell Sunday. Guess this means I have to put up with yet another horrible Sunny day in San Diego!

Boy, did we ever get hammered up here where the billy goats reign. Actually it wasn't all that bad. We've had much worse up here before and it really wasn't that bad. But it has been a few days since I could make it from my bedroom (my caboose) to the kitchen (coffee shop) and then on to my living room (the public library). And my little vehicle while having been unburied is still snowed in. The wind got to me and so I just quit before I got done. But the air up here has always been clean and the sun does manage to come through on almost every day. -Getting sick of these sub-zero temperatures though.
