Likewise all the devil's book should be composted, not burnt.

Makes since to me, since most of those are so full of shit anyway. They should have a high methane output, at least until they dry up...

Mac,
YourPhriendlyAuthor (imported) wrote: Thu Oct 22, 2009 8:20 am Complicating that is the fact that the various books of the Bible existed as an *oral* tradition for hundreds - sometimes even *thousands* of years before they were written down. The stories were handed down from generation to generation; if somebody in one generation forgot part of the story, that part was effectively lost *forever*! If someone added something to the story to make it clearer, etc., it was a *permanent* addition!

It's kind of like the kids' game 'Telephone'; one kid comes up with a phrase, then whispers it to the next kid, who whispers it to the next, and so on. By the time it gets back to the first kid, it's usually *completely* different from what the original was!

The Bible is kinda like that...

The wife and I had an oral tradition at one time, then I guess we got too old for it... :(

Not funny. It's happened so many times in the past the you know there are legions of the righteous just waiting for some demagogue to give them the moral authority to hunt down and destroy us deviant sinners.

Makes an interesting visual, though. Could make a good screenplay...Hmmm.

CF is right. As Herr Himmler once observed, "When the police do the bidding of those in power they act within the law."

Or as Nixon said, "If the President does it, That means it's not illegal."

We seem to get by with the skin of our teeth--so far.

Nixon told David Frost, "...if the President does it, it IS legal". Only in Nixon's case, it was NOT legal, but in "W's" case, it WAS legal. GO FIGURE... In Clinton's case, it was... "...I did NOT have sex with that woman, Miss Llewensky." (...all the while shaking the same finger that he had stuck into her vagina.) Thus earning the "FICKLE FINGER OF FATE AWARD" for not impregnating his mistress.

The 'moral' to this 'immoral' story is that it is OK to start a war in a foreign country and kill thousands and you can do it without without IMPEACHMENT, but don't you DARE finger-fuck a COED or let HER 'jack around' with YOU!

Who said "Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God"? Pat yourself on the back if you answered "Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin." They proposed placing the motto on the Great Seal of the United States. Pat yourself even harder if you knew that the phrase was created by John Bradshaw (1602–1659), the lawyer who served as President of the Parliamentary Commission which sentenced British King Charles I to death. But who thought up the idea? (http://www.davidkopel.com/Misc/Mags/Policraticus.htm)

I think part of Clintons rap was that he lied on TV to the people who elected him and with his wife sitting next to him. He tried to redefine words (In a lawyer like way) like "IS" and in short was pretty full of crap. I think it wasn't that she was a CoEd but that she was an Intern. Those of us who remember "Mr Smith goes to Washington" of course see "intern" as someone very young and impressionable. Was she? I think she was young and impressionable and probably quite flattered when the US leader said "Hey you. Whats your name? Climb under my desk and give me a blow job." But I rather doubt her parents sent her to Washington hoping that would be the outcome. Having that "genius" Al Gore didn't help and well.. Well what can you say? President Clinton was a typical Politician and one of the many men who could not keep his pants zipped up.

Assuming "W" did the same thing I think he would have been tarred and feathered by his own party never mind the opposition.

As to equating it to war I think there was a very vocal support from both sides at the start of it and only later when the costs piled up is there this 180 switch. Totally political (Make them look bad and get elected) This war Illegal? I actually tend to agree. I'm one of those nuts that think such things are "war" and that Congress should damn well be in charge of declaring it (And thus not be able to turn around later like they have) showing how short sighted we are in such things. It seems to me that the people we are "protecting" much always wonder what clowns will be in charge at the next election.

I still have my Beatle Records having saved them from an earlier burning....

Heinrich Heine -
German poet - (1797-1856)

The original quote in German:

Das war ein Vorspiel nur, dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man am Ende auch Menschen.

That was a prelude only, there where they burn books, they burn at the end also people.

Now I wonder which was President George W. Bush's role model?
