Effects of surgical castration on older men?

Hello,

My "one" is going to be castrated Saturday (Dr. Arnkoff). I am trying to decide what to do with his hrt post-op. When his testosterone was low (gone), he was seriously and dangerously depleted of energy. he is 65. Also, I am very curious to hear the differences in the functioning of your mind on and off hrt.

I've posted about this before so I apologize for the redundancy. I'm still intact but was given Lupron injections as part of prostate cancer treatment over 6 years ago. Lupron reduces T levels. Once it really took effect I was miserable. Hot flashes, moody, no ambition, noticeable weakness, zero libido, a "just don't give a shit" outlook on life. I had no idea why but thanks to the internet I learned why and refused any more injections of that poison. After a few months I started feeling normal again. The radiation cooked more than just the cancer. My balls must have got a dose too because my T levels now run no higher than mid 200s and as low as 130. But it must be high enough. I'm not like I was years ago but not bad for almost 70. My glass is still half full.

Somewhat-Old fart here, age 65, -though deference due to those more senior!

HRT seems to maintain most previous strength, though perhaps not all. No arthritis or other decrepitude.

Increasing number of birthdays might be to blame. -Nah!

It's hell getting old, but it beats the alternative.

The glass here is damn near the top and overflowing.

Not a bad thing to lose bad nuts!
