I have always wanted to go to a nude beach, but I think I'd rather go to beach where the dudes can wear speedos or thongs, which are more common in Europe I think. That is more attractive then completly naked.

Nobody particularly seems to particularly care if you are nude or not at the ones I have been to. Nudity is not about attractiveness.

BTW near my home is a festivity of, "mooning" the train as it goes by. What started as a small event has become large. C'est California.

Yep: all in Northumberland and all unofficial.

Druridge Bay, Ordnance Survey map ref. NU 274 980 just south of the point where the Chevington Burn meets the sea.

Cheswick Sands, OS map ref. NU 060 459 about 6 miles south of Berwick upon Tweed. It is a 2 mile long 'finger' of sand pointing out to Holy Island accessible by following the public footpath across the golf course. Park at the club house.

My favourite: Ross Back Sands on a peninsula just south of Holy Island and accessible by one road only. It consists of a 3 mile stretch of fine whitish sand with dunes for shelter. It is, unfortunately, a good 2 mile walk from Ross where you'll need to leave your car. Follow the path across Ross Links, negotiate the field in which there is nearly always a bull, then on towards the mast in the dunes (look for the mast when you are returning from the beach).

It is best from the mast, NU 144 380, to the northern tip (Guile Point). Here you'll find the sea on the westward side of the dunes is about 4 feet deep at high tide - and on a good day it is warm!

It is a truly enchanting and beautiful place with views of Bamburgh Castle to the south and Lindisfarne Castle to the north.

There are no facilities on any of these beaches. Cheswick and Ross are fairly remote. You'll need your own transport to reach them all. Maps, binoculars and something to eat and drink would be useful.

For what it's worth, I watched a few of the episodes of a show on the travel channel about a tribe in the Amazon that mostly doesn't wear any clothes (some of the men appeared to wear phallic sheaths.) Like some of the people mentioned in earlier posts, once you've seen all these people nude for a while, the lack of clothes doesn't seem remarkable or noticeable, particularly if you're watching them do all kinds of things that are foreign to us civilized folk. Only a few of the young girls actually looked very attractive in the buff anyway.

One interesting thing was, that some of the women had multiple husbands (polyandry). Don't know if that had anything to do with the nudity.

Yes indeed, stimulus overload can just make it seem less arousing. But, certainly, the lovely topless chick walking by would always be a wake up call. It would take a long, long line of them to desensitize me.

In medical school, our sex class was preceded with a Saturday and Sunday program sponsored by the Museum of Erotic Art, who had the largest collection of film material. We watched 8 across the wall simultaneously, special ones, one at a time, desensitized by massive doses.

I would presume that in the cold North Sea the nude beach going public are used to seeing men with no testicles, as most men's testicles will draw up inside and their scrotums contract holding them in tightly.

you are of course quite right! Scrotums, and various other things, shrivel, nipples stand out, balls retract - mine when I had 'em up into my body cavity, and pale Anglo Saxon skin, if you stay out too long, turns blue.

The North Sea is always cold, but on warm days a quick dip in the sea can be very invigorating and makes lying nude in the warm sunshine all the more enjoyable. It just makes one feel so... alive!!

As for seeing other guys on the beach, testicles visible or not - after the first ten minutes I find myself not bothering to look.

It goes without saying every day one gets older. Sadly my personal naturist days are over.

The glory days for me were the late 70s and all the 1980s. In Britain I often went to a lovely, naturist and gay beach on the very long beach near Holkham in Norfolk on the North Sea coast. I agree with Nicholas about the effects of the sea water on your various bits and pieces (all shrank) but as he rightly says the warmth of summer sunshine soon returns your body back to a comfortable sunbathing state.

On the South coast near Bournemouth there is a naturist beach popular with everyone in Shell Bay, Studland. The sand is gorgeous and the outlook is like the Cote D'Azur. There is also a "beach" at Brighton which I don't know but I think it is rather stony.

Speaking of France there are many naturist beaches on the Atlantic coast and elsewhere including Corsica. There are guide books that give full information. Lets hope this summer will make it a great year for safe naturist tanning. A body without "tidelines" is so much more appealing. Why bother to sunbathe if you leave your privates and bottom snow white?

Hey Sac-mec, thanks for mentioning Holkham and Shell Bay. You triggered a lot of memories of lazy summer days. My problem was always my sensitive fair skin; I had to apply so much sun-cream I looked like I'd been greased for a cross-Channel swim!

Curiously, I often thought the sunbathers looked sexier when they put their clothes back on for the trek back to the car-park. All those slim young guys with their neat little bums clad in Levis...
