She caught one meat processor (with a national brand) tossing frozen manure into the hot dog mix. Her comment was that it was processed enough that there was no real harm in the practice....

Once when on holiday in the south of France we walked into the local shop to find the owner, Madame Doutres, chopping up a whole ham.

Asking what she was doing we were told that she was making the filling for her sausages.

And good sausages they were. :)

I have seen a science program on TV (I think it was Nova) in which they said that pigs are completely immune to mad cow disease. Even pigs that are fed large quantities of infected cow brains do not get it and there is no trace of prions in the pig's body. It would probably be safe to eat pig brains.

This is a favorite joke of my TS GF:

"Why can't men get mad cow disease?"

"Because all men are pigs."

But here's my real questions, and they may be on topic on this site on this thread, and I am really curious about them:

Testicle eating. Not the kind of fiction with humans that so many archive stories take up, but real regional carnivorous delicacies like: Rocky Mountain Oysters, Turkey Nuggets, etc. Can anyone give a culinary critique on these?

Then the big one, so to speak: In Iran they are known to cook and eat a sheep penis with sheep testicles. They get the parts easily at a butcher shop. The recipe and pictures I have seen have the parts washed and used like sausage skin and stuffed with a cabbage/meat/rice mix. I assume the testes are cooked like RM Oysters and Turkey Nuggets, but the article I read did not say. The article's pictures of the cooked sheep genitalia were initially startling because by golly it looked darn human. So, I think this qualifies as a dish I would find initially gross but might enjoy if I actually tried it. Since I don't plan to be in or near Iran soon or ever, I wonder if there is anyone at EA familiar with this Middle East cuisine?

Below is a link about a Chinese restaurant.

It apparently serves the kind of delicacies that intrigue me but don't know if I could ever actually try. Interestingly, they don't strike me as erotic, just interesting.

Even the one time I had Rocky Mountain Oysters I was not told what they were until a day later, so I did not have the chance to pre-grossed-out. I'm not sure how I would have acted. And, yes, they did sort of taste like chicken. If I had known what they were, I still wonder if I would have acted like chicken.

Here's wishing good taste and good tastes to all.

The stuff I eat is pretty mundane, but everyone around me thinks it's gross.

I tend to like raw beef. No one will eat steak with me...

I like it very rare - warm it up after knocking off the horns. Steak Tartar is just not warm enough

People dont seem to understand that steak is actually sterile inside, its just the outside that may or may not have bacteria on it. so a quick Searing will kill any dangerous bacteria.

Now Ground beef thats one that needs to be cooked well. thats where the Ecoli comes from.
