The right decision for the pope to make would be to allow priests to marry.
Altho I do think this pope is in his own words here for just a short time.

Doesn't matter what it's "about", not even a little bit. You can be as attracted as you want, but if the object of your ardor is under the age of consent, you're a molester. Period. Further, if you hold a position of trust or authority, such as a teacher or clergy, and you molest one of your charges, you're a scumbag as well.

Am I really missing something here? The Catholic Church expects a Priest to never marry but remain celebate for life. I think that is an awfully hard nut to bite. I was told that they physically check a Priest to make sure he has testicles before he is ordained. Then you make him obstain from marriage and a wife. Expect him to be celebate for life. The reason is money.If priests were allowed to marry they would want to pay some attention to their family and the estate they would have would go to the family rather than the Church.As I have said before the oldest profession is not prostituion,but relegion.The churches want to control money and sex even if negativly.They say nuns were not so bad.I had experiences with Gods little Angels.I think of then as mean dirty minded bitches.If any one is interested I might fill in the dots. augman

For me I think the Catholic church is the worst church I have seen for bringing Gods true word to the people.I see people sitting on there hands and never learning any thing but if they are in church they will be saved.

It never ceases to amaize me that pedophile is not defined yet.To me it is someone whom fools sexualy with kids and it is considered a crime.Catholic clergy got away with it far too long.Right now cardinal Weekland is on the carpet admitting that the Wisconsin Catholic church played musical chairs with these clergy.For years.It never said it was wrong and said we are sorry as if that was to make all better.I was raised a catholic and am in recovery as a catholic now.The church preached repentence and forgiveness,but in never tried to do either.

WRONG. Only when you look at the church do you see that disparity. In general girls are just as likely to be molested. In fact if want to get down to brass tacks women are probably far more likely to be sexually assaulted within their life time than men.
So if the Pope ever manages to weed out gay priests from the clergy, it's not like he will be solving the problem of sexual abuse in the church. The only change is the victims will be more likely to be girls instead of boys. It's all equally bad. What get tired of though is how this issue always gets neatly wrapped up and let at the feet of "Gay Priests" ignoring the fact that sexual abuse is not just in the church but our society as a whole and that it affects all genders.
As far as what issue is a big issue, I'll leave that for the victim to decide.

As opposed to what, the Protestants, who if they don't like their Church they just leave and find a new one, dropping or changing the bible until it says what they want it to say? Over 30,000 different protestant denominations in the USA and counting...
