Very true,

Its not going to be easy for them to shake communism but remember what they had before. This is actually a little better, I did not say good but a little better then he Emperor system that they have had for 2000 years. The Chinese have discovered Capitalism and they like it, that will do more to change the way they do business and how they rule there people. Is this change going to happen over night, NO. They are in a better place now then 30 years ago, its a slow work in progress.

I keep waiting for that dam to break, not all of it, just one little section, it will happen when they move all there peasants to just below the dam. It will be the worst disaster in the history of man killing millions. It will happen because of one of the fault lines running under the dam shifted, no body's fault, an act of nature.

Population control.

Gee, I suppose that I will have to drop any plans that I might have had had I won the lottery last weekend to attend the Olympics in China. :( Oh, well. 🙄

I knew one of the cyclists who was cheated (not sure if screwed would get censored) in 1980. He had trained numerous years only to be told that due to Russia's policies, his efforts were rubbed out to "make a point." What was the point? His chance to prove he was one of the world's best was wasted. I got to know him in 1982. Two years after the fact, a mere question about the 1980 games would throw him into a rage. Maybe not as senseless of a waste as the soldiers killed for Daddy's honor but still a waste of eight to ten years of his life.

What would be accomplished if we stayed at home? Unless the world stayed at home and kept their purses closed the Olympics will be a showcase for the new "China."

As far as making a political point at the Olympics; consider these two examples; (a) the 1968 Black Power Salute and (b) Jesse Owens beating Hitler's wunder race.

Good point. I resented the President Carter wrecked that Olympics. I might boycott sponsors of the Olympic broadcasts.

Also in the Mexico Olympics, another kind of political statement, Geo. Forman waving the American Flag.
