Hooray Hooray, My orchiectomy is done. It is about 4hrs after surgery. No real pain or discomfort. There is a slight sense of like a pulled muscle sensation in the abdominal area, but not a bother at all. I will be on antibiotics and norco for a few days, just to be safe. The ice packs feel like they are doing some good. Now for the feelings I have, I feel like a great weight has been lifted off my chest and I feel happier. I feel like the anesthia is still working a little and it is making me tired like I want a nap, so that is what I am going to do. Doctor said I could resume nowmal activities tomorrow but naturally no lifting at all till I see him next week. Skudster

I feel like it was always supposed to feel this way, like it feels right, like it feels normal and correct.

Yep, that's how I felt after my surgery. But you have to be careful about lifting. I think that you will need a lot more time than just one week. It also took me about a week to feel almost "normal" again. I had a bout of feeling extremely tired and depressed after about two weeks after my orchiectomy that a testosterone supplement has eventually helped to suppress.

nonamesplease, you are correct, lifting anything right now would be a big mistake, I dont want to pop stitches or tear something loose. When I go for my post surgical check up in a week I am sure he will say no lifting or strenous stuff for a while.Am already on androgel but will be looking for mood changes. I have six different doctors, specialists in their own fields of practice. My primary doctor has given me his own private home fhone number if I ever needed help for an emergency. Never had to use it yet. He's a nice guy though.

Damn none of the family members want to see the stitches, what a let down, ha ha ha ha. Skudster

The initial incision looks more gruesome than it actually is. While I was still in the hospital afterwards, waiting to be released, several of the nurses in post-op came by to check out my wound to make sure that it was OK. Mine was glued shut and has healed nicely. The typical reaction from men who I told about my surgery was to shudder and say something like, well, you already have your kids. The women who know about it seem to be more at ease and matter-of-fact with it.

The women who know probably think "he won't be bothering anyone for sex any longer"

Probably the reason that my wife told them in the first place.

Day three after my surgery and everything is going great. Am off pain meds, didnt have any yesterday either. Will be on antibiotics for two more days, they where prescribed to prevent infection. The black and blue is starting to fade already, swelling is a lot less. No real pain just sensative when the area is touched. I cant explain why I feel better mentally, I am just a lot happier. Also physicaly I feel better, seem to have more energy. I know that it will probably be weeks for T levels to balance out and get adjusted to my androgel.I dont know how to explain it but the feeling down there, with testicles gone, is how my brain always thought I should feel. Its like my body and brain are in harmony and it just feels right. Skudster

Skudster

I felt the same way but about three weeks after my surgery I began to feel overly tired and depressed. I started using Androgel and it seems to help but I am still adjusting to the change.
