WHEN IT RAINS, IT POURS
I was researching Native Americans on my computer today when I looked up and saw Monty standing in the doorway of my den. Well actually, he was leaning considering he can barely walk. I lent him my wheelchair so he could sit in the sun outside. I just called ARMC, the hospital where he was at, and they said "we released him."
I don't know what his plans are but I'm NOT allowing him in my house to sleep or eat. The only thing remaining of his shack is a makeshift lean-to. He'll probably freeze out there but he's not my responsibility.
It looks like I haven't gotten rid of him after all. Shit.
Well so much for my firm resolve. Liz coerced me into letting Monty stay in her bedroom for a few days until she can find a permament residence for him. She did not want him to die in the the cold of his backyard shack.
Gawd help me, I am a wuss.

Yes, but a very human (or humane if you will) wuss.

Well River, we were both born in 1946. The only only difference is that your birth date was 1946 BCE

Tomorrow I make several calls for places Monty to go:
• Salvation Army
• United Way
• Hospital social services
I don't want Monty to die of his injuries in my house. That's one headache I don't want or need at my age.

It's not being hard hearted or cruel in any way to say "I can't take care of this man" because you can't and shouldn't. There are people who can give him better care regardless of outcome. This is a case where a nursing home or some care facility can do a better job than you can. THe man has had major surgery and requires better care than you can give. It's not that you want to give lesser care, it is that they can do so much better.
You might have to call the State authorities or the county authorities in addition to those you listed. I don't know how it works in Califormia.

Ok, I became sidetracked by a migraine and paying bills today.
Electric Bill $57.91
Water Bill $170.00
Time Warner $133.00
I'll call those places tomorrow.

Monty's future may nave been sealed today. Liz took him to see his doctor at
who told him he had a massive pancreatic infection. Naturally, they kept him there. "If" he returns here, I'll start making those calls.
Strangely, I hope he recovers.

Liz just received a call to return to the hospital. Monty has an infection in both lungs and possibly his liver as well.

Monty's left lung collapsed.
