I spoke with Kimmel's secretary yesterday and she said one should stay off their feet for two weeks after castration. Don't want to lie around the hotel that long. Can those with experience comment on when it would be ok to take a plane home. I would definitely lie around there for 2-3 days.

If you are not having your scrotum removed, like I did, you should be able to travel in a couple days if not sooner.
There have been several guys here that have flown home from Philly in a couple days. Granted, the longer you wait the better, but a couple days is doable unless they use a drain, which is used with scrotum removal. They usually remove the drain in 3-4 days. Then you would be good to go a day or two after the drain was removed. If you go to post #40, in this thread, you can read what I did.

Although Dr. Kimmel does not recommend it, one could find a few options to stay on in Philadelphia for a cheaper price but at the very least one should stay at an upper class, clean and friendly hotel for a minimum of a couple nights during the sugery. (And of course room mates would be a whole host of other problems altogether.) I think contamination is every surgeon's absolute nightmare and of course you yourself would be the one who inflicted it on yourself to your own detriment.

Thank you to everyone for all the great information about Dr. Kimmel. Can anyone tell me if he only does elective castrations or does he do other urology surgery? How many castrations does he do in a week?

I can tell you what he claimed he did during my visit in 2005, but that could have changed since then.
He told me he does have a normal urology practice on the days he does not perform castrations. I would imagine he has performed a castration or two for medical reasons.
He told me he does 2 a day 3 times a week, so if that is true I would say he does about 6 a week.

Anybody know what he currently charges for testicles and scrotum removal?
I wonder if he does penis removal too?

It was about $2000.00 (two thousand) just for castration in 2006, that does not include removing the scrotum. No he does not, will not remove your penis, don't even ask. He sees the penis as a necessary organ and extremely complicated to remove.
