Re: There's Always The Weather
Michigan indeed, should be Lake Wisconsin along with the Wisconsin northern peninsula being re mapped to be part of and rightfully if not geologically or topographically, within the borders of Wisconsin.
Then I would let those northern most counties form the last and great State of Superior.
If I remember the all clear bell in Milwaukee is not reliable until the third week of April. I remember the prettiest, fluffiest snow storms would be the "Ill be back" storm of near mid April.
They say it is going to cool off again in the O.C. Maybe below 70. A few cherry tomatoes ripening and lettuce all over.
River, are you familiar with the Tule ecosystem? What have you seen or experienced, please.
Those Sierra Nevada rivers just flowing to a mucky low plain. I cannot imagine it but have only studied it. As mosquitoes love my taste, I would probably not last long there.

It rained here today, a burnt meat "musty" smelling rain with small hail.

FYI: My grandfather and his cronies strongly believed that northern Wisconsin and Upper Peninsula Michigan should break away from their respective states and form a separate state - they were not the only ones, this was a strong political movement back in those days. --FLO--

I know and it comes back every now and then.
An advocacy for the formation of the State of Superior.
Cooler, grayer and delightful. Back in flannel shirt.
Too bad the fruits and vegetables don't love it as much as I do.

Yes they call it the UP, part of the great state of Michigan same name as the lake but attached to Wisconsin, where if you like pasty's and polka music you will fit right in.

Re: There's Always The Weather
Ah, finally, the last 3 days temperature stayed positive both during the day and at night. May be remains of the snow will thaw soon, so I would be able to open rollerskating season.
It was about +10C top (about 50F) during the day... Not a t-shirt weather (I'll wait till it warms up at least to 17C-19C, but already warm.

Re: There's Always The Weather
A little warm, then cool again with rain on the way.
My tomatoes once doing so well are taking the hit.
Avacado packed with flowers that just do not open.
Cherry trees are amazing. Second year for those.
Loquats were a lousy year. Few fruit and not very juicy.
Lemons galore. Meyer Lemons, Tree Lemons, lots of lemons and the second generation of the year is going to bud.
Fuji Apple seems stalled and Mission Fig no doubt wishes for heat.
Raspberry vine is yellowing with lots of flowers that did not produce fruit.
Boysenberry and black berry a bit better but I gave them all a soluble iron treatment. Poor iron a common problem here.
Garlic and Onions threatening to flower but, they are stalled too.
Potatoes coming up nicely.
Sweet shelling peas never really took well. I get about five to ten peas a day.
Free range lettuce going very free range. It does not mind the cooler weather.
As much a I enjoy the wet, cooler weather, I do have responsibilities to my garden too. What shall I do about the weather. From Southern Coastal California.
