The ski people must be happy.

The highest peak locally is sometimes "dusted" as a foothill but, not this storm.

About a third of an inch total H2O for this storm on Moi and his garden.

And it came down over a nice period of time making a real, sod soaker.

Watch for mud slides coming to steep neighborhoods soon.

Remember: Every Silver Lining has a Dark Cloud.

Today the sky is clear and a fresh breeze blows steadily. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

The Garden Grows and some fruit trees show signs of waking up with bark changing from dusky gray to rubric

and buds becoming plumper and more noticeable on a branch.

It is a very wonderful Season. <so far>

Hey RiverLava,

Do YOU remember "Seasons"?

Yes moi, I do remember seasons, we have four seasons here too, we have Winter where it get down to the mid 70's at night, Spring were it gets down to the mid 70's at night and Summer where it gets down to the mid 70's at night and Fall where it gets down to the mid 70's at night. Of course the day time temperature is totally different through the seasons. Winter is Low 80's during the day, Spring Low to mid 80's during the day, Summer mid 80's during the day, and Fall where it will get up to the mid 80's during the day. Now are you not glad I cleared that up?

As for the Lava from Pu'u 'Ō'ō it decided to start over and do it again. Remember the last time is started it took 30 years before it stopped and started over in a different direction. We here in Puna don't pay much attention to it but will again when its 100 yards from the road, now that its back to 10 plus miles, who cares?

As for what kind of a day were having read Moi's post, that's what its like every day. Perfect except we are one of two states that did not get any snow in Feb. Oh drat I am so disappointed. 😄

Yo RiverLava

How do trees such as Peach, Apricot, Apple fare with no seasons?

Do any Non Tropical Fruit Trees work there?

Blueberries? Raspberries? Blackberries? etc.berries?

And where is the nearest VA ?

Clear and crisp here with a sun that feels hot.

The ground really dried out quickly considering it hasn't been "warm".

More rain is due in a few days then a pattern of storms over days, if they materialize.

Yet no one wants to admit the drought is witnessing even an iota of relief.

Citrus works real well here with many varieties as well as Avocados, mangoes, like 60 different varieties plus all the other tropical fruits. here is a site for you to look at, http://plantithawaii.com/ There are even varieties of Apple, Peach, Nectarine, Plum, plus berries of all kinds that will grow in Hawaii, I know several people who have all kinds of fruit trees and harvest year round.

As for the VA there is an office in Hilo but I live so far away that I see a local doctor and the VA picks up the cost.

Today Moi lost all his crops, it was a sad day to be sure but who was to know that MOI would suffer through the STORM OF THE CENTURY???

Rare hailstorm turns sunny California into a winter wonderland

03/02/15 06:25 PM—UPDATED 03/02/15 06:35 PM

facebook twitter save share (http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/rare-hailsto ... wonderland#) group (http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/rare-hailsto ... wonderland#) 1 (http://www.msnbc.com/msnbc/rare-hailsto ... iscussions)

By Benjamin Landy (http://www.msnbc.com/byline/benjamin-landy)

Sunny Southern California got a snowy surprise on Monday, when a fast-moving thunderstormdropped a full inch of hail (http://www.weather.com/news/news/southe ... -hailstorm) on Huntington Beach and Long Beach in Orange County. That’s “a significant amount of hail,” according to NBC Meteorologist Domenica Davis.

A few intrepid Instagram photographers were on the scene to capture the icy action.

Moi is unavailable for comment as he is now smoking a few trying to get over his great loss. All his fruiting trees now have all there fruit on the grown pitted with snowballs from HELL. Crop failure, its a great loss for MOI as he looks out on the tundra that was once his yard, covered in little white pellets where grass once grew. One can only wonder at the wrath that nature brings.

If he should come in and try to make light of this we can only say, Way to go MOI, keep a stiff upper lip.

three to six inches of snow in Minnesota, high winds, blizzard conditions. This sick one laid in bed til the storm was mostly over (not the winds) before going out to clear snow for an hour. Was fairly warm out though, so it made the snow sticky and wet. At least not so bad that it clogged up the snow blower. But caused lots of slick roads and over a hundred accidents this morning alone. (Wet, sticky snow compresses and becomes ice on roadways. Idiots fail to slow down....)

I have never been able to figure that out, it snows every year but the people seem to forget everything during the summer and need to relearn how to drive every winter.

One of the possible scenarios for World Weather Weirding was a slowing of the Gulf Stream (already documented) and a change in pattern of the Jet Stream (already documented), followed by cooling that could lead to glaciers in New England (we seem to be approaching it). The same model predicted the current drought in the Southwest.

Or when the weatherman was asked about global warming with a snow storm raging outside, he said, "one is weather and local the other is not weather and is global"

Weather is day to day and Climate is a whole year compared to a whole year.

Today in my area, it rained and I got drenched. It's hell to take 5 minutes to unload it all from a car in the rain. Now at 1:20am on Wednesday, it's warmer -- 45 degrees. And it has already rained 0.5 inches and is expected to hit another 0,5 inches overnight. With the snow melt and ice on the rivers, the Monongahela at Pittsburgh is going to flood by 5 inches tomorrow morning over the parking wharf. Think about how much water fills a puddle eight to ten blocks long and five inches deep. then think about a wide river flowing next to it. That's a lot of water.

Then Wednesday Night, the temperature falls and Morgantown WV is forecast at 6 inches of snow and I will get 2 inches and Pittsburgh might get one inch. Washington DC is going to get snowed in tomorrow. That will make the silly news.

Thursday is going to have a high of 19 F and a low of 0 F. It will warm to 40 F on Saturday and Sunday.

Mixed up. Huh.

I have a great desire to Flambe' a groundhog. However, I gave up torturing small vermin for Lent and must forego the pleasure.
