I made a couple of attempts at papermaking but both were absolute messy disasters. I had intended on making paper for use in hand-made journals as gifts for friends. Maybe I'll give it another try.

Punkypink - When punkypink speaks one must obey! The Deathstar is a possibility but then there is the problem of building the damn thing then I'd be stuck with all the people required to run it! Hmmm....still, if it has FTL capability I could find another solar system.

fhunter - Excellent idea. I had considered it but determined that the variations in the density of the planet between the solid crust, mushy mantle and dense molten iron core would effectively dampen and negate the waves.

Right now the only practicable ideas I can come up with is the creation of a singularity (or with tens of billions of dollars) using a robot spacecraft to nudge a large asteroid or comet (say fifty miles in diameter) into the path of the Earth's orbit.
