"Frozen" Russia here. Ok,almost frozen... It was dancing around freezing point for the last month. I wonder, will we have new year with a snow this year or not?
Is it cold enough to truck freight across Lake Ladoga
Now that was "cold" times.
Good thing you had Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov and his Siberian army.
Unfettered by any threat by Japan and acclimatized to Siberia, including machinery as well as men.
Imagine them thinking, "and they call this cold?".
BTW best of my knowledge, the Delaware River of Battle of Trenton fame, does not freeze in recent memory.

NEWS BRIEF
A powerful low in the mid levels of the atmosphere is expected to develop near the islands tonight and Tuesday, bringing very strong, dangerous winds to the Big Island. Gusts of 95 miles per hour are possible Tuesday night into Wednesday.
A Winter Storm Watch has been cancelled and replaced with a Blizzard Watch. A band of deep moisture could spread over the Hawaii Island on Tuesday / Wednesday bringing with it the possibility of 6 inches of snow, the high winds could create deep drifts.
Temperatures will be in the upper 20’s to lower 30’s with wind chills in the teens.
The combination of wind and snow would bring “extremely hazardous and potentially life-threatening conditions” for anyone attempting to drive or hike, says the National Weather Service.
PRIMARY SOURCESIts true, and its happening all above the 12,000 feet on the top of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island.
Down here at sea level its cooled off too, down to about 75 or so.

I lived in Milwaukee from 1975 - 1977.
I cherished my very long, Sovietsky Army coat.
America doesn't make them that long.
The rain is just hitting Northern California, adding to my water storage.
The last couple of storms fizzled as predicted by the time they got this far south.
The fog last night was so thick I could not see the street lamp across the street.
We exchanged feelings. I don't know that it is interested in mine.
Some of the red berries my Asparagus produced a few months ago are sprouting in the new bed I have planned for Asparagus. A few of my plants are yellowing. When can I trim them?

SNOW IN HAWAI'I
NEWS BRIEFS
Snow fell on Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on Hawaii Island on Tuesday. The summits (above 11,500 feet) are both under a National Weather Service Blizzard Warning, in effect until 6 p.m. HST Wednesday.
The road to the summit of Mauna Kea was closed to the public at the Visitor Information Station all day Tuesday and will likely be closed Wednesday due to the high probabilities of ice and snow on the summit. The National Weather Service says snow accumulations up to 8 inches are possible with deeper drifts.
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park closed the summit of Mauna Loa until further notice.
PRIMARY SOURCES
Yes it snows here every winter.

Cold.
Cold.
Not a "bundle up and take a walk and enjoy it", cold.
One of those low humidity, penetrating, biting, cold.
Although not below freezing, Not pleasant at all.
The Asparagus patch it turning yellow and brown.
