It is hot and gonna get hotter

Usually a "heat wave" is followed by a "cool wave" off the ocean.

Not now in the new, 21st Century, Climate Changed World.

We are oscillating between humid heat and dry heat. No cool.

Dry and hot today.

Humid and hot this w'end.

If it is this bad in paradise, imagine elsewhere 😱

And some critter discovered my sweet corn. :(

A husk gnawed down to the kernels on one side.

Drove from Rapid City, SD to Cody, WY today through snow storm. Kind of scary sliding around in the mountains. Snow is done and supposed to get warmer. Should be good for the wedding on Saturday.

Summer has gasped its last here.

I am sad to see the 100F heat indexed days go, although we didn't have many. It was a cool, dank summer.

The upside is that the fall mushroom are popping up all over. Last night, I had some late chanterelles and oyster mushrooms, and found all sorts of other neat things to photograph and try to ID later. I even found a Destroying Angel Amanita. I'm saving that one for someone I don't like.🍑👋

Never eat pizza I've cooked... 😄

And nights are HOTTER with Humidity so thick it could be termed, fog.

But, it's humidity. Inland of me were flash floods but, not one drop here.

Just, HOT !

Here in the Beautiful State of Hawai'i its been HOT, in the mid 90's not much trade winds, were melting and not from the volcano that is coming our way.

The Volcano continues to flow pumping out more lava each day, its heading right for the middle of town. Now understand there are about 8000+ people that live in the Puna district and its serviced by the town of Pahoa which is about to be divided in half by the lava flow. We will know for sure in about 15 days.

At least its not flowing at my house, or the place I am watching.

Life is still good in Paradise.

The atmosphere is cooler, more pleasant and moisture can be seen out over the ocean.

The barometer is well under 30, (28.86) but did jump up 0.15 over night.

Squirrels ate all my yummy sweet corn.

The same ones that got whole trees of apricots, avocados and peaches.

When is asparagus season. They are ferny. Hardly a spear. Some Holly Red berries. 👅

I'm planning a new patch on top of a little hill so I can stand at the bottom and reach in to harvest the veggie.

Harvest them if the squirrels don't get there first.

We don't have those pesty critters here, :D

Weather has been strange all year so far. Colder than normal winter with way above normal snowfall. Cool spring and summer with only one local reporting station recording just one 90 degree day. Cool September so far.

Even stranger thing. Humming birds are usually gone by beginning of September. As of September 16 or 17 we still had over a dozen at our house. Today ( Sept. 19) it appears that only a few are still here.

Wonder what this fall and winter will be like?
