There is a statewide drought not only in the state of California but large parts of the western USA.

It is not severe but extraordinary on the drought rating scale.

I'll believe it when they adapt building codes which are at a fifties level of technology in water management.

As new neighborhoods are planned, better systems could be installed to recycle gray water for example.

But, of course, they never, ever reflect the costs of such things on the construction industry.

The sun is hot, but does not have that burny effect. The air is thick with unnatural humidity.

Above is someone living in denial, don't worry about buildings, if there is not a drop of water to drink people will leave then there will be all the buildings in the world, empty.

The building codes have nothing to do with the lack of rain Moi, nothing, they are not related. Look at Lake Mead, its no longer a lake but a river its down so low.

It rained briefly on me while I was struggling to dig out a giant hosta that had to be moved. Then it got hot. I pulled a muscle in my right calf. I think I'll sit inside in the AC for a bit, and ponder all those lovely wild mushrooms I picked and ate for dinner, cooked in bacon grease.

I wanted to walk two blocks to get some mushrooms but it was raining too hard to get out the door.
