kizahakan,

Can you tell us the story of Syria?

I saw on the news tonight where refugees are fleeing Syria for medical treatment because if they seek it in Syria they will be arrested at the hospital and taken away and tortured.

IT sounds pretty bad. Please share your perspectives if you are comfortable doing so...

🙏🙏

Sure, let me explain the situation we have with Syria as far as my english permits me🙄

when you check the map and find Turkey, well down below Russia close to Greece :) you will see that we border Syria form the southeast...before the fall of Ottoman Empire we dont have any borders and Syria was one of the state within the empire but after Ottomans lost the WW1 to Britts and French then they redraw the borders in middle east that in fact creates the problems of today... At Ottoman times there were not any such disputes...So after redrawing of borders some of the families have been seperated some stayed in Turkey some in Syria but bordering cities were always close to each other...

Now enough of history, lets come to today... After the so called Arab Spring began in Tunisia then firing the whole Arab world, everybody began to wonder as could this be a good sign for the end of dictatorships/kingdoms in Arab world and can democracy come or so? Nearly 5 months have passed, we did not see any change in them... did we? Look at egypt, tunisia, yemen, algeria still the tensions are high...

Now this has arrived to Syria lately...and Syria has been ruled and is still ruled by Esad Family for more than 40 years...so there is high tension within the society against Esad government and they ask for more freedom, human rights and democracy and some go for riots for that... there is also a clash in syrian society between Esad supporters and the ones against Esad... For the last 3 weeks Esad began to attack his own people who are asking for more human rights, democracy etc and attacked their villages... so as a result lots of villagers from Syria began to move to our southern borders asking for entry so in accordance to human rights we have opened the borders for them now at the our city of Hatay there are about 15.000 Syrians at the tented camps provided by red crescent and red cross and UN...at least they are fed they have hospitals and they are safe...

Last friday Angelina Jolie has paid a visit to Syrian refugees in Turkey... Tension is high with Syria...Our PM has asked to Esad to stop attacking his own people and negotians is going on...Meanwhile more Syrians are fleeing to Turkey...

Most of the arab world some say wants to have a model like TR but thats a whole different story...

Still no promising news from Esad side...:-\

Hope i manage to give a bit more information to all

Cheers,

hakan

In my experience, Hakan has a typical Euro sense of courtesy and does not express himself in a more declarative style as may offend

or pin him down - I wonder 💡 😄

We have PM'ed and e-mailed for years.

He knows I really try help the foreigners know I consider them almost as good as me (we), except the Canadians.

Well at least he does really know I encourage his participation as an individual from Istanbul and not representing all of Turkey or the Turk peoples. I do wish he would practice less courteous speech as to communicate a point of view from Istanbul most clearly. Go ahead Hakan, offend someone. ;) You have a long, long way to even get close in this crowd.

River, don't mind the mindless, just enjoy kizahakan.

kizahakan, either way that you stated the thing that you said is very ACCEPTABLE.

Your English is MORE than acceptable. Your English is EXCELLENT! English is not your NATIVE language and we DO NOT expect you to use English like a NATIVE English speaker.

I have NO trouble with your English and your writing is very expressive.

You do very, very well...

If moi converted and became a Mormon he would need to give up everything you listed, except maybe the salad.

A nice Cognac would be nice ;) truly the drink of the gods.
