Parts of this area are under flood watch,
All of it is under flood warning.
Recorded rainfall in some areas is almost an inch since Midnight Wednesday night (12:01am Thursday)
Weirton WV got 4.5 inches
Most areas from 1 to 2,5.
It's now about 12:17am Friday . . .
By 6pm they expect another half inch of rain at least.
The Ohio River level at Pittsburgh is 16.6 feet expected to rise to at least 22.5 feet tomorrow and with more rain than predicted, it might reach flood stage at 25.5 feet.

The weather has been comfy, cozy, La La Land at its' best.
After several muscle aching producing walks, a friend and I decided just to kick back
in our own sand boxes these last two days.
My front yard Royal Apricot had a plethora of fruit. But, there are these three squirrels who like to pick fresh, 2-3 day pre ripe fruit and take a few bites, drop it, and repeat. Rat traps did not work, so I am trying peanuts, unsalted. They like them but, I do not think they are dissuaded. They are now attacking the nearby, not ripe peach tree. After I fashioned a dish at the bottom so they might be blocked, I found three large, green peaches with a few gnaw marks.
I always accepted cat are diabolical.
But, squirrels are not to be trusted.
Next year, a temporary electric fence.
The back yard peach trees are still blossoming and there is an electric fence.
Moi
Newly wary of squirrels. I mean they sit in a tree, destroy the fruit, see me but, don't miss a beat.
We just glare at each other as they turn their heads a bit sideways. Not to be trusted. Diabolical.

There are well-proven ways to prevent squirrels from destroying your fruit crop (or your seed-filled bird feeder):
1) Trap them and move them FAR away. A couple of miles of flat land is not enough unless there's a river in between,
2) Eat them. A little squirrel stew in the diet would be a good change of pace, or
3) Get a cat who's smarter and more vicious than the squirrels. We once had one who left a head and tail at the front door about once a week. I miss him.....

A hunter friend of mine says five chipmunks make a great stew.
Just add garlic, potatoes, carrots, celery, onions, mushrooms, stock, herbs, spices and stew away.

There was a big, feral, Orange Cat I use to feed and it napped in the front yard. I mean it was wild.
But, it left the taunting squirrel alone.
OFBK does too. No interest except to watch.
I leave peanuts in 3 places and if I keep it with peanuts, they are not in the tree.
I believe I count four now. 3 big, fluffy ones seen at the same time and a smaller one.
Possibly litter mates.
Next year, an electric fence.

Another lazy, hazy, cozy, unmotivating day.

I just gave up five of the cutest kittens and the mother to the humane society. They were on my aunt's property which I'm taking care of for the time being and I had to do something since they were six weeks old and starting to be weaned. They were cute but I had to do something and I really do miss those guys now.

Well YOU go back there and re-claim them !
I like kittens to should stay with mom until 3 months at least.
And you threw away a "blessing"
Haven't been this pissed off at this Board since the Political Forum closed

Moi, 6 weeks then they are gone they dont need 3 months, so pass them out if you leave them to long they loose there independence, what you need is a Rupert, or a young Rupert type, a true die hard killer for your critter problem or a good pellet gun.
