Can I say "heartless bitches" with a hearty laugh and a big smile? It's too cold outside except for bears -- they always {rim shot}

Actually, this is news about California:

FRESNO -- Gov. Jerry Brown said Monday his administration would soon declare that California is officially in the midst of a drought.

“It’s coming,” Brown said of a formal proclamation when asked during a press conference at Fresno City Hall. “Just be patient.”

A recent survey of the snowpack in the Sierra Nevada Mountains found the state’s water reserves are at just 20% of normal levels. Other measures have declared 2013 to be the driest year in California history.

“It’s really serious,” Brown said. “In many ways it’s a mega-drought; it’s been going on for a number of years.”

Brown’s comments came at a Fresno City Hall press conference after a day of meetings here with members of the Westlands Water District, local farmers and other regional agriculture leaders. …

I read sometime back that California has even resorted to cloud seeding to try wring any drop of water from the sky.

Time for aboriginal Rain Dancers.

80F / 50F with a humidity of 5% at the most.

Long range forecast show no change in those disruptive High Pressure areas.

Someone is getting the rain. Just not California.

It has been going to Mexico and the Pacific North West.

I remember back in the middle 90's Western Pennsylvania had a rather cold but snowless winter and then spring wasn't too wet and then summer.

It's the snowcap that keeps moisture in the ground during the cold winter. Cold air strips water from everything it touches. We think that hot summer air is a culprit for drying out something but that's not the whole story. Hot and warm summer air carries lots of moisture with it all the time. When the sun sets in summer, the humidity rises to the dew point.

In winter however, the cold air is almost never saturated to the dew point and when the afternoon sun warms it, it gets dryer and sucks water from anything. Bare ground in the winter cannot hold water.

My lawn died that year. IT was pathetically brown in spots and ugly grass and weeds made the land green the next year.

Plus, much of California's water is tied up in the rocky mountain's snowcap. It's not as thick or extensive in a drought. The water authorities already know in advance how much water is not there in the mountains.

So true, I remember the 7 year drought in norther California, we were on water rationing for years. It had two causes, one was no snow in the mountains the other was that of the 7 big reservoirs that feed the water system the brilliant guys that run that system decided sense we had such a good snow the years before they could empty 4 of them at the same time and do repairs if needed. It took 12 years to fill them back up, dumb asses.

Then when the rains finally came everything overflowed. I remember the cops knocking on the doors telling people to be ready to be gone in 15 minutes as the water level was to the breaking point, then the rain stopped. That was in March, that August I was standing in my front yard and started sinking into water, the water table was at about 6 inches.

And that is California, not enough rain and snow, to much rain and snow.

Here in Wisconsin its not enough snow makes for a bad year growing corn, winter lasting to the end of May, not enough time to grow corn before it snows again. Not a bad place to live if you like 4 seasons, 6 weeks of spring, 3 months of summer, 2 weeks of fall, 7 months of winter which is broken up into cold and snow, much colder and snow, damn cold and more snow, then it warms up a little to cold and snow, and finally some nice days with lots of slush and more cold and ICE. It makes you appreciate spring and summer with all the mosquito's - Minnesota's state bird, LOOK IT UP.

💡

The World Needs a program of major North to South aqueducts

like the dreamer said in Sahara (1943) just before getting shot in the head.

Start with that fresh water in 🇨🇦.

That water is 🇺🇸 by Manifest Destiny.

Why else would the Lord have placed it there?

It's cold and going to snow again.

I may have to go on a homocidal rampage.

And then a homicidal rampage.

I know, the snow gods want one more shot at me, but I will have the last laugh - see if it can follow me to Hawaii.

I have checked the weather for the next several days and Minnesota is COLD, once out of Minnesota it starts warming up and keeps getting warmer all the way to California.

What of the winds? Tornado conditions and the real thing.

What of precipitation? Snow. Sleet. Freezing Rain. Rain. Flash Flood.

What of Cosmic Events? Solar Flares. Objects falling out of orbit. The deities of Winter.

Y'gonna get any sleep before your 5:30AM goal to hit the trail?

For night driving, try score some Bilberry. Capsules. Or Preserves. It really does improve night vision.

Authenticated by British WW2 fighter pilots. I wouldn't take it all the time, but when I really need some extra night vision.

They reported when they got Bilberry Preserves with B'fast, they saw better at night, so give it some hours.

Remember to try score your sushi kit in the Bay Area. Cheaper. Big market for them there like the islands.

I will keep a log of our trip however the worst weather is what were in right now and we have been in it for a couple months. The further we get from Minnesota the better the weather, no rain or snow in sight except in the area that we must travel just to get out of Minnesota. No matter what route we take that will not change.
