It was sunny today. . . They paved the road in front of my house today.
Two facts y'all need to know.
A few days ago, a friend that does the heavier work at my place called and asked if he could come out today and not the weekend because of whatever. I wasn't aware of the paving and said OK. So that's the setup.
He is supposed to be here at 9am and about 9:25 I get a phone call that there are detours and how can he reach my house from Beagle Road. Beagle is in the wrong direction and past my house from the way he is being driven. So I direct him through the parklands behind my house and the next phone call I get is that he is on Mingo Church Road and I tell him to watch out for a watering can at the 4 way intersection. This water can is 12 foot high, copper with a brown patina with flowers around it. They don't see it. They drive past it and somehow end up back in the parkland. SO I direct him to the nearest intersection from my house and suddenly he says He is at Hamton road.
I think I used a naughty word about then. I normally don't do that while giving directions but when you say drive south and they drive east while telling you they are driving west. you too might be frustrated.
I know that is about 2000 feet from my driveway. It's just two turns. I say drive past the red barn and make a right. I hear of rate phone that the driver has gone past the second red barn and that is the wrong way. That goes back into the parklands.
Without warning and impossibly weird, they find the Watering Can (it still is 12 foot high as I write this.) But from the Red Barn it is the wrong direction. Like North and not south is the wrong direction.
Now I am beginning to believe that the compass is a foreign concept tot these two. That north is merely an abstract area that has ice in it and South has Norfolk Va and Washington DC. (If you don't know, I live in Western Pennsylvania near Washington PA, Canonsburg (birthplace of Perry Como), and Finleyville.
This is now roughly 45 minutes of directing them on roads that should take 5 minutes at most.
Without much warning I hear the driver say -- I pulling up his driveway.
I have to say that my driveway is 320 feet long and you can't see my house from the road. My lovely hideout is in the woods. Me, the deer, and the squirrels are at peace with the world.
All that I can say is that it was a rough morning and the Township really did completely resurface the road in front of my house.
I didn't ask if my friends knew that the sun rose in the east because I think they might have hit me, hard for that bit of humor.

The post that precedes this happened on Friday.
This morning, I hear the big machines once again and this time, the township paves (the topcoat) from roughly a 1/4 mile north of my driveway to somewhere up and over the hill at least a 1/2 mile south of my driveway. They might have gone the entire two and a half miles south to the park entrance.
They didn't pave the entire two lanes, they pave the southbound side. That has left a 2 inch ridge in the middle of a winding and curving tree-lined road.
I am expecting to hear sideswipes and crashes tonight when the cars that drive my road try to do 55 miles per hour and hit that ridge.
Tomorrow, I have an appointment to get my car inspection finished. In Pennsylvania, a car fails inspection if the horn isn't working and the recalled airbag broke the horn mechanism and the entire mess had to be ordered. It's not that big a deal but I have a car about 20 days late for inspection.
I sometimes think I'm cursed, not a bad, bad curse but a tiny curse.

I had a ljdyfriend for a short time this week. nice person abut a bit troubled and disturbed by my political views.
it reached the point of high political theater this week Trumping all the matters but opera and concerts and our tastes in pop music.
I told her that I had a crush on THE MONKEES and she told me she was leaving.
