Whatever you do, don't wear it near Texas A&M, Auburn U., or Oklahoma State U. (Stillwater OK) Those "Aggies" will send you home with a VERY well-traveled and sore hiney!

You CAN wear it to Oklahoma U. (Norman OK) and not be bothered 'cept for a few smirks and some finger pointing. On the bright side, their hottie cheerleaders will probably adopt you and let you sleep in the sorority house. That is, if you make a very cute sheep when you don the outfit.

Watch out for guys with shears or Aggies with a tube of KY!

The funeral home owners came to my house today. I explained to them that I was unable to locate my dad's DD-214 thus couldn't bury mom in Riverside National Cemetary as I had planned.

I paid the owners the $568 I owed them for mom's casket. They said they would cremate mom at no additional cost...not what mom wanted but it will be closure for me.

I haven't decided what to do with the ashes yet.

It has been a very long and hard time for you. I am happy that the end is in sight for you. Yes closure is way over due. Give a thanks to the funeral home for helping out at the end. My prayers go with you and your Mother at this final stage of her life.

Maybe you can think of a place she loved and if it is possible spread them there?

Yesterday, I went for my SSI physical which took about an hour. The doctor was pleasant.

If your dad is buried there get a copy of the document and inter her ashes. In a hundred thousand years nobody will know the difference.

Dad was buried in Sullivan, Indiana, where he was born.

In fifty years, probably no one will know the difference. On my father's side of the family, we have a family cemetery established 140 years ago, in which 4 generations of my family are buried going back to my great great grandfather, who died in the 1860s. After my generation, however, I don't think there's going to be anyone that cares that the cemetery exists.

After I die, they can dump my body in the woods somewhere. At least, the coyotes and other critters will get some good out of it.

I called BG at Fort "X" and told him of the problem re the DD214. He says you can easily get a duplicate by contacted the Military Records Center (or something like that) and providing them with the necessary info re your dad.

He suggested you call your local VFW, American Legion post, or the local VA facility for assistance as well. The point is: You CAN have your dear mom's ashes interred in the same plot with your dad, despite the short delay occasioned by the replacement of the DD214. It's pretty easy and simple.

Go for it...your parents will smile down upon you.
