Mac, somebody is jerking your chain. There is NO reason for a Death Certificate to take that long. The examining doctor should have filled it out and signed it immediately after she was declared dead. My mother died of Dementia and systemic failure. much like yours. Since my name was on all the accounts, I had no difficulty withdrawing all the money immediately after her death.

I also had my mother cremated, per her request. It only cost $1200, while a burial would run $5000+. Just a cheap fibreboard casket costs big $$$. If they cremate, you can take her home in a plastic box and put her on your mantel so she will always be with you.

I received a call from a guy who is a watchdog of funeral parlors in Southern California. He says the Death Certificate was signed Friday at 2:00pm and that I should have my two copies by Tuesday or Wednesday, hand delivered to my house.

I shall wait and see.

I called funeral home to see if Death Certificate was ready yet and they said NO.

It seems they are waiting on cause of death. They say it could be more than another week.

There is something very rotten going on here. Bet they are charging you for every day they have your mother in waiting. The Death Certificate had to be made out with in days of the death. Your county register of deeds or some office like that has the dead on file.

The funeral home is just screwing you over big time. Time to start to screw them over with some legal action. I am sure some TV station would like to put your story on the air and expose that funeral home. They love doing things like that.

I looked online and you have a county recorder for the records. I sent you the link to the online page in private email. You can walk in and request the Death Certificate and receive it their. The necessary forms are on the link I sent you.

I would make a bet that the funeral home is using the option of ordering the Death Certificate by the snail mail from the county. The delivery is 2 to 3 weeks for this service. Hummmm''''''' sure sounds like what the funeral home is doing to get your Death Certificate.

This is what they are doing, (I think).

If you had a pre-arranged funeral agreement with a annuity to cover costs, and the costs was less than the amount of the annuity, they probably could not charge enough for regular services to get all of the money and they stood to have to refund the difference to the family. (That's You, Wolfie.)

So, they are charging storage for storing her body by the day to get ALL of it so that they do not have to refund ANY of the difference. When the money is gone the death certificate will show up.

Time to go to better business and complain, on your way to the attorney's office who you will use to sue for mental anguish, damages exepliary and punitive and whatever else you can do to these Nazi bastards... maybe go to the Prosecutor and have them busted for FRAUD...

Actually, the funeral home says it is waiving the $2,000 cost so I will be paying -0-. Better than nothing.

Ken and Plix drove me to the funeral home today. They will charge me for the casket $569.00. I have the death certificates. Ken and Plix then drove me to one bank where I took out $2,500.00

Tomorrow I pay off the Gas Company, Edison, TimeWarner, City Water, Verizon and back taxes - woo hoo
