Got Weather ?

The Summer into August has remained cool. As in lower then usual temperatures.

After some humid, monsoonal stuff we now have a good ocean effect keeping the air cool, crisp and some sun for a few hours a day. Lovely.

My bet. A major "blaster" Indian Summer. September/October.

My hope. An early start to rain season, but rain like Humboldt County.

We are due for one of those 30" plus seasons, as opposed to a 3" minus season.

One of my two garden boxes has a sponge like solid matting of fungus from the surface down a few inches. I mean this stuff is fibrous. Occasionally I guess that is the mycelia that sprout those brain mushrooms. And hint on how to safely acidify soil or otherwise disfavor the fungus.

I'd move the stuff you want and let the fungus sprout. You never know, could be an edible.

Could be a psylocibe mushroom.

The <doom> Federal's <Darth Vadar breath sounds> Weather Bureau promised Summer today with a temp of 80F.

( )0( ) After watering heavily with imported water to prepare for the heat wave -

It is cool and gray and barely above 70F with a relatively strong cool ocean breeze.

It is time to privatize the weather service ! 😠

Mission Figs are ripening and I had hoped a blast of heat would help sweeten them along.

My neighbor and I have pretty well concluded our n'hood doesn't get to those high maximum heat numbers to support a Mission Fig. They just chug along but, never really take over.

Any Ideas of a fig that does not require high heat? It shouldn't require a frost either for my area.

You are gonna be lucky if the frost doesn't get them before the MOM is over...

Pick some nice green ones and put them in a paper bag with a few over-ripe bananas.

By the time the MoM starts we should be in the low 90's not the mid 70's like last week. Paolo will be pleased with the temperature I will be unhappy with it. --FLO--
