How could all the electricity generated in the world be absorbed by nanites? Wikipedia says that in 2008 the whole world generated 20,261 TWh (Terra Watt hours). If my math is correct, that means the average production was 231,100,000,000,000 watts. I think that all the nanites would vaporize in less than one second.

20,261 * 1,000,0000,0000,000 /(365.2425 * 24) = 2.311E+14

You're not supposed to apply logic to these shows.

In one episode it was asked and noted how many nanites existed and the person answered, "Over 200-quadrillion, their sole programming is to absorb electricity and reproduce..." So using that logic (if you want to call it that) there are 1000 times more nanites than watts of generated electricity in 2008. You would have to figure that at this point in the storyline, powerplants are off and have been for sometime, so those 200-quadrillion nanites are starting to starve.

People are panning this show, but I'm starting to enjoy it a bit because they are finally explaining things. They are also starting to develop more complex story lines, showing the difference between the haves and have-nots of the northern and southern "countries", etc. Hopefully they are shaking it up to show what the balance is between the 4 or 5 "countries" the US has become.

I'm finding it much more interesting than I did in the pilot episode where the lights went out and all they seemed to do was walk around. I'll agree the fight scenes are cheesy. ;)

Maybe they need a guest spot by Chuck Norris, then?

Here you go, Dave. The Nostalgia Critic reviews an awful movie, "Sidekicks", but he does talk a lot about Chuck Norris.

"IIIIIIIIIIIII'm Chuck Norrrrrrrrrrrrrrris!" :)

Well, REVOLUTION isn't as bad as SIDEKICKS.

But Chuck Norris is a fitting symbol of what they need to kickstart that show into real 12 year old boydom fame forever.

Three channels was the norm in large metropolitan areas. I remember when we lived in a small town in Ohio and received only 1 channel (Toledo); and it was only on from about noon to midnight. That was in the early days of television 1948-1949.

There was only 3 television sets in the town including at the appliance store where they were sold. When my dad bought that one everybody was upset because they went there to watch television.

How many of the nanites existed at the instant the nanites started absorbing all the electricity?

What is the mass of each virus sized nanite?

I have not watched any episodes of this show. Did the Revolution universe have electricity that was delivered by wires as in our universe or was it delivered wirelessly as Nikola Tesla proposed?

If you remember the promotions and previews of this and the first show, the power went out across the world in 8 minutes and they had pictures of cities going dark in waves and planes falling out of the sky. The premise is that the nannites were too small to see and had two commands -- reproduce and suck up electricity. I don't know how long the nannites were left to reproduce before sucking up electricity. Supposedly, no one can see them or detect them by mechanical microscope.

I find the nannite explanations much less than satisfying - like eating a single potato chip.
