Caloric count intake matters to a great extent Fixet and I agree. The quality of the calorie matters too. Good carbs for example have good amino acid profile, vitamins and some good fats or little fat.

Theres also an entire art to cooking foods maximizing the nutrient density per calorie too and avoiding as best as posssible "glycation end products"(usually the result of cooking with rancid oils and stuff and this affects weight management)

The crockpot is an excellent way to cook foods minimizing the destruction of nutrients while cutting down on the reactive agents that deteriorate when foods are cooked.

Slow cooking is great:D, issue with it it's slow lol
